---
Husk was a huge reader. He loved to read when he wasn't behind the bar. He read anything from mystery novels, to romance stories to even historical fiction. He had a stack of books on his nightstand that he spent days reading instead of sleeping. Tonight was one of those nights.

Husk sat on his bed, reading glasses perched right above his heart shaped nose. The book was a new mystery novel he had picked up a few days prior. His yellow eyes scanned the pages, getting lost in the immersive story. As he made it just passed the halfway point, building up adrenaline for the story, his door burst open, revealing a tall figure.

Husk jumped, startled by the sudden noise, setting down his book. He looked over to the entrance, his shoulders relaxing when he saw his tall spider friend.

"The fu-?!"

He wanted to yell at Angel for scaring him when he noticed tears in his eyes.

"...Angel?"

He said quietly, looking over at Angel. The spider sniffled, clutching his pet pig in his arms.

"I-I'm sorry... I-"

He sniffled softly. He felt so stupid, running to his friends room because of a nightmare. It was pathetic.

"Don't be sorry. Cmere, ya big baby."

Husk patted the bed, signaling him over. Angel did so, sitting and burying his face in Fat Nuggets fur. Husk wrapped a wing around his back.

"What's wrong, legs?"

Angel leaned into the touch.

"Nightmare... I just... I don't wanna alone tonight, Husky..."

Husk nodded, understanding. Angel laid his head on the cat demons shoulder, and Husk allowed it.

"You can stay the night, kid. Don't worry."

"Thanks, Husky...."

Angel pulled off of Husk and laid on the bed, noticing the book on the bedside table.

"Whatcha reading?"

Husk chuckled softly, glancing at the novel.

"It's called 'If It Bleeds'. Alastor got a bunch of books from earth somehow, so he gave me it." (A/N: Stephen King is so good)

Angel glanced around the room, noticing the stacks of books scattered around the room.

"I didn't know you read so much... I knew ya liked it, but ya have so many books."

"Eh, gotta have some way to pass the time."

He mumbled, picking back up the book and his glasses, causing another comment from Angel.

"Ya look cute, four-eyes. They fit you."

Husk rolled his eyes, lightly smacking his arm.

"Shut it."

Angel laughed, and a peaceful silence filled the room. Husk continued to read while Angel laid beside him.

"Hey, Husky?"

"Hm?"

Angel hesitated for a moment, then let out a cheeky smile, moving to lay against Husks arm.

"Read to me?"

Husk raised his eyebrow, looking at Angel.

"You don't even know what it's about."

Angel nuzzled closer.

"...I don't care. Just like ya voice."

Husk blushed, sighing.

"I ain't very good at reading outloud..."

"oh..."

Angels shoulders sagged a little, glancing up at Husk.

"...but fuck it... just this once. Get comfy, kid."

Angel did, cuddling into Husks arm. He closed his eyes so he could listen, mindlessly stroking his pig. Husk started reading from where he left off, his voice low and soothing as he read. It didn't take long before Angel dozed off against his shoulder.

With a soft smile, Husk laid the book down on the bedside table and laying a blanket across both their bodies. He switched off the bedside lamp, closing his eyes.

He could get used to this.
