December, 1994.
The following day, Joey lay in her bed.
Having just woken up, she rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she lay on her side. She had a window in her bedroom, so the sunlight shone right inside.
Her bedroom was a square, just like the other two bedrooms. She had a twin bed pushed against the wall with no bed frame—only a platform for the mattress to rest upon. A nightstand next to it and an old lamp resting on it. Her books stacked up against the wall beside the nightstand.
She had a clothes rack instead of a closet, just like her roommates. There was a small dresser and a mirror that hung above the dresser.
The walls in the entire flat were light grey and they weren't the ones to paint it. Since it was a nice grey, they just left it because the colour was nice and it saved them money from repainting.
Joey coaxed herself to get out of bed and when she glanced at the clock hung above her door, it read 7:27 a.m. She sat up in her bed after pushing the floral comforter off.
The three of them ate their pizza last night with the cheesy bread. They had canned pop in their fridge, so they drank those.
They never ended up going grocery shopping since they all got lazy. They just sat in the living room with their leftover food on the coffee table and watched movies all day. Then they all fell asleep before eleven even hit.
So today, the three of them were going to go grocery shopping for the next two weeks. They had cash and whatever money they made from working at Hogsmeade. They just needed to convert however much they wanted to Muggle money at Gringotts since all their Wizarding World money went into their accounts there.
Their budgets were tight, but they still got things they wanted rather than needed. It was nice to treat themselves and each other.
She rose to her feet and her oversized T-shirt fell past her bum. She had on baggy pajama pants as well since the weather was getting colder. Her feet slid into her home slippers and grabbed a sweatshirt off the hook behind her door. As she tossed on the sweatshirt, she left her room.
Just as she headed toward the bathroom, Nayun walked out of it in her pajamas. "Morning, Jo-Jo," she said brightly.
Joey smiled at her as they switched places. She went into the bathroom and Nayun padded down the short hallway to the main room. When she finished peeing, washing her hands and face, she walked through her home to the kitchen and saw her roommates.
Imani was eating leftover garlic cheese bread in her pajamas, leaning against the kitchen counter. "Are the shops open now?" she asked, glancing at the clock on the stove.
"They open at eight," Joey replied, and went to the kitchen to find something to make. She found green tea bags and decided just to make tea.
Nayun was throwing out spoiled items in their fridge, so it wouldn't leave a bad smell if they forgot to do it before they left for Hogwarts. After morning talk, the three ladies then readied themselves for the day.
Joey threw on a pair of distressed baggy jeans and a random sweatshirt. Over her sweatshirt, she wore her usual puffer jacket in the colour black. A jacket she'd gotten from Devonte after he noticed holes in the pockets of her old jacket and the tears in the hem.
Her hair was bundled in a low ponytail and pieces fell out to frame her face as she rubbed on some chapstick over her lips. Grabbing her wallet from her dresser, she stuck it in her jacket pocket as she left her room.
She saw Imani and Nayun putting their shoes on after they'd dressed themselves. Joey put on her white sneakers and when they were ready, they left their flat.
