January, 1995.

"Literally fuck both of you!"

Joey and Nayun both stopped their doings of getting ready for classes and turned to Imani, who just shouted at them.

"What?" Joey spoke first, puzzled.

"Why fuck us?" Nayun frowned in confusion.

Imani wagged an aggressive finger at both of them from the bathroom. "You're both on your period, yeah?"

"Yeah..." Joey and Nayun answered in unison.

Imani laughed dryly. "Yeah, exactly. So fuck you both," she spat rudely in frustration. "I'm on mine now too and it's both of your faults."

"Oh." Nayun gaped and then she smiled in joy. "Blood sisters unite!"

Joey snorted loudly before she broke off into a fit of laughter at the comment. Imani locked herself in the bathroom. By the time they were ready and walking down to the Great Hall, Devonte caught up to them from their common room.

"Holy shit, you ladies are fast." He slowed from his jog and walked beside Joey. "I saw you guys leaving the common room, but I forgot my textbook for Potions, so I went back. Then when I returned, you three were nowhere to be seen."

"Nah, mate." Imani shook her head bluntly. "You're just slow."

"Oh," Devonte huffed out, nodding at her words. "Okay."

Joey patted his arm. "Don't take her attitude personally, Von," she told him reassuringly. "She cussed us off this morning. She wagged the finger at us."

He gasped in a feign of shock with wide eyes. "The finger?"

She nodded promptly. "The finger."

They turned to stroll into the Great Hall and sat at their table. They only had about ten minutes, so they ate something small and quick.

Joey ate a clementine with a goblet of water. They were nearly two weeks back into school and it felt pretty great honestly. She was quite happy. She had a Draco and friends and decent grades. On top of that, no letter from Angel since Joey visited her.

For her plan to deal with Angel, she was initially going to make a scam of her own, but after the words Angel spoke to her at the prison, Joey shut that idea down. She felt so violated and watched and exposed.

Angel, who was in prison and had been for over five years and had been banished from the Wizarding World when she was sixteen for Merlin knew what, suddenly knew about the Yule Ball and the Triwizard Tournament?

That unsettled Joey. It unsettled her deeply.

She needed to keep an extra eye out for herself because someone at Hogwarts was so obviously in contact with Angel. Perhaps this person was the one who had put her name into the Goblet of Fire. Joey just didn't know who. She didn't know who in this school would know who Angel Laeno was.

"Joey!"

Her steps halted in the corridor at the voice. She spun around with only Nayun with her since the other two had different classes.

"Granger?" Joey blinked at the curly-haired girl approaching. "What's up?"

"Your part for the Potions assignment." Hermione shoved the rolled-up parchment toward the other girl. "Did you even try?"

Joey stared down at the parchment in her housemate's hand. "Of course I tried," she countered steadily. "Why would I not? It's literally schoolwork."

"Try harder." Hermione grabbed the girl's hand and slammed the rolled-up parchment into her palm. "This is a group mark as well. I can't get lower than a ninety-eight, Joey."
