October, 1994.
"The Halloween party is going to be hosted the weekend before Halloween," Imani stated as the three of them walked down to the courtyard.
"It was going to be the night before Halloween, but I highly doubt anyone wants to be hungover when the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons people come," Nayun said gently. "Or— Or to have a party the night the champions get selected."
Joey conversed with her roommates as they walked across the courtyard to go to their next class, which was Herbology. They had this class with the Hufflepuffs.
The light sky was clear of any clouds and the sun casted from behind the castle of Hogwarts. Wind danced through the leaves of the trees and exhaled a breeze against everyone's skin.
Since it was now fall, the weather had become chillier. More breezy and less sunny. Today was the first day in a week that the sun appeared from behind dark clouds.
"We should talk about Halloween costumes." Imani rummaged through her bag and hauled out a ripped piece of parchment. "I listed some ideas I had in class. I was thinking we could do a group costume this year—the four of us."
"Let me see." Nayun took the parchment and read out loud. "Clowns, ghosts, bears, horror movie characters—"
"I doubt anyone here is gonna know horror movie characters unless they're Muggle-born," Joey interjected as she twirled her hair into a bun and stuck her wand through to keep it up.
"What about serial killers?" Imani suggested whilst they all walked down the path to the greenhouse. "It's nothing too specific—but still Halloween-y."
"I'm good with serial killers." Joey nodded calmly. "I reckon Devonte will be fine with it too."
"Okay, so we'll be serial killers," Nayun confirmed as they walked into the greenhouse, where Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors were waiting around and talking.
"You know, I still remember the time Nayun got lost at Hogwarts during our first year," Imani recalled as they set their bags down on the table in the back of the class. "First Herbology class. We were all meeting up here and Nayun got lost."
Joey laughed heartily at the recollection. "Took her a whole thirty minutes to try and find her way here."
"It's honestly not my fault." Nayun scoffed and shook her head. "The castle is so huge. I don't believe anyone who says they've never gotten lost before. I remember the time Joey got lost."
"Spent the entire Transfiguration period looking for the classroom." Imani giggled and teasingly nudged their friend.
"Hey, the castle's huge, mate." Joey shrugged limply.
"Hey, ladies." Cedric walked into the classroom and smiled charmingly at the ladies.
"Hey, Cedric." Imani smiled back. "You thinking of entering the tournament?"
"For sure." The handsome boy nodded and dropped his bag on the table as well. "It's gonna be fun."
"Death is not fun." Nayun shook her head with a straight face.
"Of course not," Cedric agreed sagely. When he walked away, he winked at Joey and Imani over Nayun's head, so she wouldn't see.
Imani laughed and Joey shoved her arm in a gesture to be quiet when Nayun asked, "What?"

Draco was so glad the Halloween party was happening the weekend before the actual Halloween weekend.
This was going to give him the best opportunity to ask Joey if she wanted to go to the party with him, in spite of it sounding a bit premature.
But right now he was sitting in the Great Hall, which was now set up as a study room for students who had work to do. Students of all houses were scattered around the long tables doing homework as Snape supervised, walking up and down the lanes between each table.
