"I keep running, but I'm standing still. Pray for peace, but I need the thrill."

~*~*~

2 WEEKS LATER:

"Go home now!" I yell from the stoop of my parents house. Isobel is sitting in her car at the end of the driveway screaming up at me.

"I'm gonna miss you."

"I'll miss you too but I'll see you soon, okay?"

She pulls her lips into a pout. "Agh. I might cry."

"Don't cry cause then I'll cry."

We say our goodbyes with a few tears shed and then Isobel is off. I will actually miss her quite a lot but we see eachother all the time. She's a friend for life.

Isobel and I just got back from our impromptu graduation trip. We went to California and spent pretty much our entire trip on the beach getting drunk and sun burnt.

It was really nice to get away for awhile and forget about everything. Some distance is exactly what I needed to forget about Luke. Now, when I think of him it doesn't feel like a knife is driving into my chest. It's only a small numbing ache.

"Hi honey, it's good to have you back." My mom greets me as I roll my suitcase into the entry way. I kick off my shoes and begin dragging it up the stairs.

She's carrying a plate of what looks like cookie. "Ooh. Where are you going with that?"

"The neighbors are having a wedding on the beach and I'm going over to offer to help."

"Oh really, who's getting married?"

"The oldest son I believe. You still need to go over and introduce yourself."

"I know, I've been gone with Mark the last two summers so I haven't really had the chance to meet them but I'll go later."

"Okay, it's the nice thing to do so make sure you do it. The mom, Ellen, is absolutely wonderful. I think you'd like her."

"I desperately need a shower, I'll go over later."

She nods before blowing me a kiss and leaving to go greet the neighbors. We used to get new neighbors all the time so I never really took an interest in these ones. I think my mom said two brothers own it but I'm not sure.

Heading straight for my shower I don't bother putting away my suitcase. Isobel and I were at the beach almost everyday so a deep clean shower is what I need.
