Location: Libario City, Military Kingdom of Marley
Year: 845
Time: Morning
"Shiro."
My voice wasn't loud, but it didn't need to be. The walls in this building were thin—cheap construction, barely keeping out the wind, let alone sound.
Then again, what else can you afford to buy while being under the radar?
I waited, hearing the faint shuffle of movement on the other side of the door. A few seconds later, it opened to reveal Shiro's familiar violet hair and eyes. He looked at me cautiously as if prepared to react at a moment's notice.
"What is it?" he asked, his tone clipped, poking his head out just enough to keep our conversation private from anyone who might pass by.
"I've heard rumours that Marley is sending their Warriors to Paradis. For what purpose, I'm not—"
"They're most likely sending them to find the Coordinate." Shiro cut me off, his voice flat, dismissing any attempt at explanation.
He wasn't going to let me tell my white lies, I guess...
We did grow up in the same place in our previous lives, after all.
I raised an eyebrow. "'The Coordinate'?"
His expression didn't shift, but after a brief moment, he stepped back and gestured for me to enter.
I walked inside, letting the door close softly behind me. There wasn't much to it: a table, a few chairs, a bed, a couch and a small stack of books in one corner. No decorations, no personal touches.
It was exactly what I expected.
"Yuki's not here?" I asked, glancing around.
"She'll probably show up soon," he replied, crossing his arms. "Most likely through the window, as usual."
I gave a faint nod, then waited as he sat down at the table, gesturing for me to do the same.
He leaned back, studying me briefly before speaking. "I've spent time reading up on Eldian history since I got here. The Coordinate is the power of the Founding Titan, supposedly in the hands of the royal family on Paradis. It gives them the ability to control all Titans."
Eldian history was increasingly hard to come by these days. The Marleyan government was actively seeking, suppressing and rewriting books concerning this topic.
Shiro must've had a hard time coming by these books.
"Control all Titans," I echoed. "A dangerous power to have, then, given you and Yuki's DNA being altered somehow..."
Mine had stayed the same, yet not for the others.
Shiro was born, meaning had to completely restart from being an infant to now, nearly 17 years ago. Yuki, on the other hand, had suddenly appeared in this world 2 years ago.
Both of them were partially Eldian, meaning the Coordinate/Founder could theoretically control them.
I wasn't in their situation and therefore I couldn't.
