Matthew hummed as he mixed different ingredients together in a bowl. He didn't notice Mika walk in the door until she walked up behind him, placing her chin on his shoulder. "Whatchya making?" She asked.

He looked back and grinned at her. "Hey! I'm making some strawberry cupcakes. I was going to see if you wanted to help, but you seemed busy playing video games."

She smiled and walked to grab some strawberries from the fridge. "Well, I'm not busy now. Can I still help?" she asked, hopeful.

He beamed, talking as he continued to stir the cake batter. "Yeah of course! Can you cut up some strawberries as top pieces?" he asked.

Mika giggled as she poured the berries on the cutting board. "Already on it." she said, pulling out a knife.

They spent about an hour or two finishing up baking, both smiling the whole time. By the time the cupcakes were in the oven, Mika was already feeling a bit hungry. Her and Matthew were sitting at the dining room table when she glanced at him. "Do you wanna get a snack?"

He hummed. "Sure! The cupcakes may take a while."

She nodded and got up, pulling out something simple to microwave. Matthew followed, smiling softly at her. "Thanks for baking with me," he said.

She blushed and grinned at him. "You're welcome. I love baking with you."

He flushed, his smile growing. "You do?"

Mika giggled and nodded. "Yeah, it's like we're in our own little world." she explained.

"Yeah, it feels like that for me too." he agreed, his cheeks a lovely shade of pink.

Mika's face was a matching shade of red. She stepped on her tippy toes and kissed his cheek, beaming up at him. "Good! I'd hate to know I annoyed you or something."

He was even redder now, staring down at her. He was way too aware of their sudden closeness "N-nope! I love hanging out with you."

She looked like she wanted to say something, staying close as she tried to find her words. Her eyes glanced to Matthews lips and back up to his bright blue eyes. His lips parted slightly, both of their hearts beating wildly in their chests.

Slowly, so slowly, they moved closer to one another until he could feel her breath trickling the skin on his face. Their lips finally slotted together, both of them gasping slightly at the feeling.

The kiss was soft and hesitant, ever so slowly deepening. Mika brought her arms around his shoulders, smiling into the kiss. Her emotions bloomed in her chest, a strange lightness occurring. He held her waist to him, relishing in the feeling of her lips against his, her body against his.

When they pulled away, Matthew had to stop himself from chasing her lips. He panted slightly, opening his eyes to see her doing the same. She smiled up at him, his chest squeezing at the sight.

"Wow..." Matthew said breathlessly. "I've been wanting to do that for so long."

She flushed, and she could feel his wild heartbeat against her chest. "Why didn't you?" she asked quietly.

He chuckled. "I didn't want to creep you out or anything in case you didn't want to."

She nodded. "Well, I'm not creeped out. So do it again." she demanded playfully, snickering.

He laughed quietly, his eyes shimmering as he leaned back in, capturing her lips as his own.
