I laid in bed for hours, waiting for James to come home from work. He spent a lot of time at the company, being the CEO and all. I don't hold it against him, but I have to admit that I miss him while he's gone. I'm still taking online courses, so I never leave unless it's with James, a friend, or one of the boys. I briefly thought about calling over one of the boys, but I knew they were all busy. Sam had been on edge recently because of a case he refused to close, Matthew was likely at the meeting with James, Damien was with a girl he liked which made me happy beyond belief for him, and Erik was working at his shop. I sighed and got out of bed. Just because I missed James doesn't mean I could lay in bed until he got home.

I walked into the kitchen and got an idea, pulling out the ingredients for shrimp pesto. When the boys made me dinner their first night here, James made an incredible shrimp pesto dish. He made it again when proposing to me, so the dish is a little sentimental to us. I turned on some music and started to cook, hoping to be done before he got home. Once it was done, I took a bite, proud of my work. It was almost as good as James', almost. I looked at the time, knowing he was likely down the road, and set the table. I placed a bottle of wine down as well before hearing the lobby door open. I rushed to the door and wrapped my arms around him. Without hesitation, he returned the embrace and kissed over my hair. "James, I missed you today."

I received a squeeze in return. "I missed you too love, is everything alright?"

I nodded and pulled away from the hug to grab his hands. "I made dinner," I said with a grin.

He smiled back before kissing me. When we pulled away, I started to pull him towards the dining room. "Mika, what-"

His thoughts were cut off by the foods on the table. I smiled up at his, seeing his surprised expression that quickly turned to a relaxed smile. He kissed me again and spoke. "Love, you didn't have to. I would've cooked."

We sat down at the table, and I poured the wine into our glasses. "I wanted to cook today. I know you've worked really hard."

James gave me a thankful expression. "Thank you."

We ate our food, discussing his day, avoiding the topic of his meeting that went badly. Once we were done, before getting up to wash our dishes, I moved over and sat on his lap. "James, promise me something."

James nodded with confusion washed all over his handsome features. "What is it, Love?"

"That you love me."

James gave me a look of understanding, eyes full of love. "I love you. I promise."

I smiled and snuggled against his neck. "I love you too."
