It isn't that bad; it isn't that bad.

I repeated those words like a mantra as we watched the movie, a horror movie to be exact. Horror had recently become James' new topic of interest, and between work and him binging horror films, I have had hardly any time with him.

So, when he asked me to join him for this one, I happily agreed.

Growing up, I was pretty sheltered. My family hated horror films, and I'd only seen the milder ones. But as James and I sat on the couch, his arm wrapped around my shoulder as we watched The Exorcist, I began to understand why. Each jump scare would make me jolt forward, and James would always make sure I was okay. I, being stubborn and wanting to spend time with him, would nod and tell him I was fine.

I expected jump scares, but something about this movie just...

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a sudden jump scare, and much to my surprise and embarrassment, I screamed. James jolted more from my scream than the movie, adding salt to the wound, before he rushed to pause the movie. "Love? Are you okay?" He asked, hesitantly wrapping his arms around me.

After a moment, I relaxed into his embrace. "Sorry." I mumbled against his chest before slightly lifting my head to face him. "I should probably go to my room or something, I don't want to interrupt your movie."

James chuckled slightly and lifted a hand to cradle my cheek. "Dear, if you needed me to turn the movie off, you could've said something."

I took a deep breath and looked down. "I wanted to spend time with you, but I didn't want to bother you." I admitted.

James leaned in and kissed my forehead. "You are not bothering me, I assure you." he said, and I could feel my heart melting.

I looked up at him, smiling slightly. "I love you, James."

James smiled; his eyes filled with love as he spoke. "I love you."

I leaned in and kissed him sweetly, pouring my love into it. He responded in kind, lightly caressing my cheek before we pulled away. James smiled softly before getting up and walking towards the DVD player. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "What...?"

James turned towards me, holding a Frozen DVD in one hand and a Tangled DVD in the other. My two favorites. "Which one would you prefer?"

I was smiling again at the gesture. He was so kind and caring, what did I do to deserve him?

We ended up deciding on Tangled before cuddling up on the couch. He was laying behind me, settling to be the big spoon as we watched the movie and fell asleep in each other's arms.
