Mika walked into the kitchen, rubbing the sleepiness from her face as she looked for her boyfriend. They'd laid down for a nap earlier, but when she woke up, he wasn't in her bed. It was very unlike him, and Mika couldn't help but feel a bit worried, until she spotted a note on the table.

I'll be back soon, I love you. Mika smiled a bit at the note. Damien had gotten proficient at reading and writing, and he would leave her small notes frequently. Only, this time it was because he was gone. Deciding not to worry about it, she went to get dressed and wake herself up.

She threw on a pink sweater with some black leggings, keeping herself comfortable. By the time she'd started to feel the loneliness from Damiens absence, she heard the front doors shut. She quickly rushed down the stairs, seeing him smile at her eagerness. She hugged him tightly for a moment before pulling back.

"Sorry for leaving so suddenly, but I have a surprise for you." He said gently, staring at her with a loving gaze that made her heart skip a beat.

Mika raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

Damien chuckled, moving to brush her hair behind her ear. "It's a surprise. You'll love it, I promise."

She smiled and nodded before slipping on some tennis shoes and following Damien out the back door. "Wha..?"

Her eyes landed on a red blanket which was sprawled out on the grass. On top of it was a basket, which Mika assumed carried food, and a bouquet of flowers. She grinned widely as she turned to face Damien. "What's this about?"

He smiled, but Mika could tell he was worried she may not like it. "Well, I've seen how hard you've been working recently and I wanted to give you a break. Is that okay?"

Mika's grin grew even wider before she pulled Damien into a sweet and gentle kiss. Even without his powers, he always made her feel warm on the inside. "Thank you."

They sat down, eating the sandwiches and snacks he brought, stuck in their own world. After a while, Damien reached up to gently cup Mika's face in his hand. "I love you."

She flushed but answered anyway. "I love you too, Damien."

His smile was so sweet, so genuine, Mika didn't have the willpower to not kiss him. It was soft, no intention of going further than a kiss, but she poured her love into it. He responded in kind, able to feel her smile against his lips.

When they pulled away, both blushing, Mika spoke. "I truly appreciate this, Damien. I needed it."

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, my heart." Damien said, his eyes falling to Mika's lips. She thought he was thinking of kissing her again until he laughed quietly, bringing a napkin to wipe her mouth. Mika furrowed her brows in confusion until he spoke. "You got a bit of chocolate, hehe."
