Haven't heard from Lando since that evening. That evening we almost kissed, until he reminded us of his fucking girlfriend.
Gave me so many mixed feelings. Felt for a slight second that he actually genuinely cared for me.
Let me fall for him, but he didn't catch me. Let me fall right on my face.
Felt embarrassed for a couple of days, but not anymore.
This was his plan all along. To let me fall and to embarrass me right after.
Went to Japan, this time not on a Mercedes plane, but I used Air Max.
"You okay?" Max asked, tilting his head a little. I just nodded. Didn't want to explain things to him.
"You didn't come to see me that night" he said. "That's correct"
"Why not?"
Because I almost kissed Lando that evening, didn't felt right to run to Max after that.
"I never said I would come to you" I shrugged my shoulders.
"That's true" he chuckled.
Max and I grew closer together since that day on the bench. All the stories you read online are not true, he was actually a very nice guy.
Funny too.
We spend a night together in Australia. Didn't have sex or anything though. We just watched Netflix until way too late.
"Got a good strategy?" He changed subjects. "None of your business" I chuckled.
I had to admit that Max and I were a pretty unusual combination. A Red Bull driver and Mercedes strategist.
But we just clicked for some reason.
"Do you want to hang out tonight then?" He asked.
"Fine" I shrugged. "But this time, you're sneaking in my room"
Last time around, not many people knew who I was, but it was different this time around.
Mercedes made sure everyone knew about me.

Walked in the paddock with Quinn later that day. Didn't tell her about Lando and I, which I felt bad about because I usually tell her everything.
But she would just shook her head and tell me how dumb I am.
"Knox" someone half-yelled my name. Didn't even need to turn around to know who it was.
"Norris" I faked a smile as I turned around. "And girlfriend"
"Keeley" she reminded me, even though I knew her name.
He brought her here? Seriously? Now I knew for sure that he was just playing around.
"Did it help?" He asked, looking straight at me.
Did what help? Does it help to get over you when you bring your girlfriend along after an amazing evening?
Yeah definitely.
But he didn't meant that. He meant my stupid rash. "Yeah, thanks it did"
"Good" he smiled, just slightly. "Good luck Knox, don't stress too much because you'll do great"
I smiled, a fake smile. "Thanks"
Didn't wish him the same because I didn't want to lie.
He just walked away after that. His girlfriend following him.
"What an asshole" I mumbled.
"Do you not see it?" Quinn asked.
"See what?" I asked, looking at her, all confused.
"The difference between her and you, he looks at her like she's pretty, but the way he looks at you..-"she smiled as she looked back at me.
"It's like you're magic"
I shrugged. "Well maybe I am not interested in someone who looks at two girls at the same time"
Should've known it. Once a cheater, always a cheater.
Even though he technically didn't cheat.
Maybe it was all a game for him.
