Lando was already putting on his helmet when I walked in the garage.
He looked at me and I could see he was smiling because his eyes lit up.I did the same, gave him a thumbs up before I walked to the pitwall.
"Taura!" Zak called after me. "Do you have a minute?"
"Yeah literally one" I said as I turned to him.
"Do you like Lando?"
I sighed. I wanted to tell him to fuck off. That it was none of his business.
"He's a fun guy" I said. "So is Oscar"
"That's not what I meant" he wanted to roll his eyes. "We have two guys, two drivers"
"So, you want me to make them both win or do you want me to date them both?" I tilted my head.
"I am asking you, if you had to choose between Lando or Oscar, who would you give the benefit?"
"Professionally or sexually?" I asked. At this point I was just trying to annoy him.
Which worked pretty well.
"You hired me to do a job, so can I go do my job?" I pointed at the pitwall.
He just waved his hand to dismiss me, so that's what I did.
Sat down on the pitwall, next to Will who looked at me.
"He just wants the best for him, you know" he said.
"And he might be afraid that I'm not the best?"
Will just shrugged.
I was gonna show him I was the best.
———————————
But to be the best at my job, the drivers had to listen. Not do what they think was the best.
Oscar always listened, Lando on the other hand, liked to do whatever he wanted.
"Tell Lando to stop using his tires so much" I said as I pushed Will's button.
He transferred the message, but as usual, Lando didn't listen.
He was still driving in first, this could be an easy win, but he fucked it up.
Didn't listen to me - used his tires way too much. Way too aggressive.
Had to pit him again or he wouldn't make it.
He fucked up.
He did, not me.
And when we saw each other in the hospitality after the race, we didn't even look at each other.
Ignored each other.
He walked up to his driver's room and I walked back outside. Leaned against the wall outside the hospitality.
"Taurs" George smiled as he walked up to me. "You regret going to Mclaren yet?"
"Never" I chuckled.
Mercedes was no where right now. Mclaren was fast, could even win if they listened to me.
But unfortunately - their drivers were stubborn.
Lando was stubborn.
"I could've sworn you guys were together" George said, nodding to the picture of Lando behind me.
I chuckled. "Who says we aren't?"
"Lando" he looked at me. "He said it was all pretend, it has lots of perks to date the strategist"
I narrowed my eyes as I looked at him. I knew George for a while now, I could see when he was lying.
But I couldn't tell now.
