Calum's POV

"She's mute."

Immediately after Kayleen told us, our eyes widened.

"Guys, it's no big deal. We can just ask simple questions."

"So, do you like any bands?" I asked awkwardly.

She nodded.

"Do you love animals?" Nod.

"Do you like pizza?" Nod.

"Is it hard to understand what people are saying sometimes?" She did a motion for so-so.

"Follow up question- is it hard to respond to some of those questions?" Nod.

After we got to know her a little more, we went to talk to Rayna.

"We have decided."

"Oh, that's good boys. Just come to our office, and we'll start on background checks."

Minutes later, we had passed the background checks, and planned to come back tomorrow.

"See you then, boys."

Delilah's POV

The boys finally left. Whew.

I walked back up to my room, and just laid in bed.

I heard a creak, and hoped it wasn't who I thought it was.

Mr. Lynn, or so he says.

"Have you been a good girl today, Lilah?"

I nodded.

"Good. Then maybe your punishment won't be so..... harsh."

He ended up slapping, punching, and kicking me.

"Stupid skank, being there. Should've died."

It wasn't my fault.

"If you speak-wait, I don't have to worry about you squealing."

I nodded, and everything hurt.

"Good riddance."

He walked out, and I waited a little bit.

I heard another creak, and I whimpered.

"Lilah!"

Kayleen.

"What happened to you? Are you okay?"

I shook my head.

"You need a hospital."

I violently shook my head no. He could easily find me, and hurt me again even worse.

Kayleen got out her phone, and called someone.

"Will you come here? It's major."

"Will do."

We waited, and Kayleen kept asking who did this to me, but I kept shaking my head.

"What happened?"

"He came back."

"Ugh, great. Okay, here's what we're going to do. We are going to send her with those boys tonight, and by tomorrow, he will be in our custody."

"Good plan."

They packed my things, and took it downstairs.

"I know this is all confusing, but we are FBI, we worked with your parents. Before they died, they and the bureau put us in charge of you."

Seems legit.

"Okay I called the boys manager. They said we can bring you over to their house. Just remember Delilah, we are only one call away. If anything happens, we'll be there."

I nodded, and began to grow exhausted.

"You can go to sleep, but remember, you'll be with those boys tomorrow. They will protect you, I'm sure of it."

I nodded again, and fell asleep.
