SEPTEMBER 23, 1966

FELICITY HELD HER BOTTLE OF COKE IN ONE HAND WITH THE OTHER GRIPPING HER POPCORN, she makes her way over to Sodapop Curtis and Steve Randle who were doing nothing but chanting and screaming. Two-bit had not yet arrived, they all knew he was getting drunk beforehand.

She sits down next to Sodapop who stops screaming to snatch a few popcorn pieces from Felicity who didn't seem to mind as long as they weren't taking the whole thing.

"Who's winning?!" She yells over the crowd before chucking a few bits into her mouth.

"Shepard, they got Angela by the sides to flash Boller to distract him." Sodapop explained.

Felicity nodded as she continued to watch the race without joining the crowd in their prideful cheers. She nearly jumped out of her seat when she felt someone's face get close to her head, she whips her body around to see Veronica Chasman sneak up on her.

"V, you can't do that." She whined to her best friend.

"Oh come on, you should've seen your face."

Veronica climbs down to sit next to Felicity on the bleachers.

An hour flies by and Felicity was getting bored of the race that felt like it was never going to end. She excuses herself from the bleachers, walking out to the trees where she lit herself a camel light. Felicity leans against a tree as she stared into space, smoking entering and exiting her body.

The sounds of leaves crunching nears towards her, Felicity's peace was disrupted and she fell into fright. A sense of relief came over her head when it was just Dallas Winston coming towards her, relived but she wasn't happy about it.

"What do you want, Dallas?"

"What's up your ass?" He scoffed.

"You're being a pain in mine, now tell me what you want otherwise get the hell out of my face." Felicity threatened.

"Nothing, now what you got there?" He looked over at the cigarette she held in between her fingers. "Gross, a camel light? Get yourself a marlboro and grow up."

"Until you find the money for me to get a pack, then don't whine about it." Felicity retorted.

"Doll, I don't pay for the shit, I steal. Get your facts straight." Dallas' smug smirk curled, making Felicity feel annoyed.

Felicity puts out the cigarette, smushing it with the bottom of her dirt-covered white converse. She turned her back to him and began walking away. However, Dallas couldn't care less, he just wanted to push her away to get her spot to have a smoke.

Her arms were crossed while returning to the crowd, Veronica sat in the same spot with her chin resting on top of her knuckles— wondering what was taking Felicity so long.

"There you are, I've been waiting for you for ages." Veronica exaggerated.

"Sorry, got caught up outside. What did I miss?"

"Tim lost, money's all for Boller." She said.

Felicity was glad that she wasn't convinced by Sodapop and Steve to place a bet. She was also glad that Two-bit did not come even though he said he would, the night would've been hectic with his drunken self.

Everyone began exiting the drag race, Veronica never leaving Felicity side.

"You think you could drive me home?"

"Yeah, why not?" Felicity grinned.

They get into Felicity's truck, driving off into her shortcut to avoid the jam packed road with cars and people. Their ride was just the two talking about the recent gossip going around in school— Sandy Deloir getting pregnant but the baby not being Sodapop's.

Felicity felt bad for Sodapop who did nothing but love her as working extra shifts to make enough to take her out, ignoring all the girls in Tulsa for her, and even spent less time with the gang.

Although it was a year ago, when Ponyboy and Johnny got caught up in legal troubles with the murder of Bob Sheldon and the death of his parents, Sodapop seemed to be doing fairly well. It took a lot in all of them to get to where they were but still managed.

The truck pulls into Veronica's driveway, where she jumps out to sneak back into her bedroom due to leaving her house past curfew.

Felicity took a deep breath when she realized that she had to go back home and see a drunk man of a father in the living room, either still drinking or passed out like any ordinary day.

Minutes of those driving landed Felicity in front of her house. She got out with her heart pounding out of her chest and her palms sweaty.

She quietly opens the door only to see that the living room was dark but the kitchen light was on. Felicity chose to come up to the kitchen only to see her father and mother sitting at the table— across from each other.

"Mom, Dad, what's going on?" Felicity spoke.

Her mother, Rosemary used her thumb to rub the back of her father's hand.

"Your mom and I have been talking about this for long enough and I've decided that I am going to quit drinking." Her father, Billy explained.

Felicity furrowed her eyebrows, confused as to why he had decided just now to do something like this.

"It's okay if you don't want to fix things but I just wanted to do this for the sake of my job." He kept going on.

"Felicity baby, say something." Rosemary begged.

Felicity was at a lost for words, opening her mouth only to say nothing.

"Felicity?" Billy called.

"I'm just really tired, I think I'm just gonna go to bed, see you guys tomorrow." Felicity lied.

She leaves her parents in the kitchen to head down the hallway to her bedroom, not knowing what her next move should be.
