MARCH 21, 1978

THEY GREW INTO ADULTS WHO HAD TO EXPERIENCE A ROUGH PATH TO THE FUTURE. It took many years for Felicity to get past her years of educational torture, but it paid off as she got to become an English teacher at Will Roger's. Her age makes her look immature but she became the tough educator her teachers once were, some were even amazed by her attitude when they saw her return to the high school.

As for Dallas, he had been taking the role as manager at Buck's pretty well. His schedules were cramped due to Buck working less for the sake of his deteriorating health condition at only the starting age of his forties— 41.

Sometimes he'd laugh at the students in Felicity's class coming into his bar to drink, it reminded him of himself at their age.

The gang never stayed glued to each other but were all friends in their own separate paths.

Two-bit enjoyed his life as a free bird with a crappy minimum wage job to keep up with the rent money his mother demanded of him to stay at her house.

Sodapop and Steve remained as mechanics at the DX, Steve officially took part in full-time to kill his time for not choosing to get a degree in anything and just have a high school diploma hung in his bedroom.

Ponyboy had recently finished his years at the college of Oklahoma, he is to become an author's editor. Fixing people's spelling and grammar was what he lived for all his life.

Darry was still the working man of the Curtis' residence with no lover on his side still, but he managed to get himself to quick his nightly part time job as a janitor at the Tulsa radio station.

Johnny never got to get out of Tulsa like he wanted to but was fortunate to get the chance to have a place in Felicity and Dallas' apartment. They forbid him from paying rent as they got everything covered but it didn't stop Johnny from getting a job as a cashier at Dairy Queen to put money down on the table.

All of their lives weren't the ones they wanted but it was what kept them alive.

A part of Felicity did die however. After Aubrey's death and Dean's that followed after, the bookstore was closed and became an Irish pub that was nothing but a  disrespectful establishment to Felicity.

When the news of Aubrey and Dean's death, Felicity and Dallas were in attendance at the small funeral that had a minimum of six guests— the pastor and their estranged daughter with her son and husband. The daughter that had not spoken to Dean and Aubrey since the last of her teenage years.

Felicity had known them long before but not enough to know much about their daughter who was a sensitive subject. It explained why they cared so much for Felicity— she was the daughter they deserved but never got.

Her years of being their "daughter" got her to get her hands on the unexpected will, the will that had left her to all of their possessions and money. It was an overwhelming and disappointing feeling as she did not feel like she deserved it.

It was too late to change everything.

That money did get her through college and leave the house that brought her nothing but hell. Felicity finally lived a life that brought her happiness and to the love of her life.

Felicity was happily living in the one bedroom apartment she and Dallas shared along with Johnny who happily took his spot on the couch. Living with him made her think about her future, how she wanted to expand and become a mother like she had dreamed of. Dallas had changed his perspective on children after getting together with Felicity, he'd do anything to give her what she wanted.

She had spent the last few weeks waiting for her blood test results from the doctors, after trying and trying with Dallas for a baby. It was great pleasure for Dallas but it was more to get a reward out of it.

While she was off at work, Dallas was on his lonesome in the apartment. Spending the day in slumber or eating on the couch while she was gone, she hated it when he ate on her couch. He had fallen asleep after finishing a plate of nachos by himself. It was then where he was awakened by the loud ringing of the telephone.

Dallas groaned as he got up to pick it it up.

"Hello?" Dallas grumbled.

"Is this Mrs. Winston I'm speaking to?" A woman questioned on the other line.

"No it's her husband but I could take a message." He knew what this conversation would be about.

"Okay well I'm Dr. Debois, I came to tell her about her results." She informed him. "I don't know any better way to say this but I'm afraid Mrs. Winston has no chance of getting pregnant."

Dallas' heart broke for her, knowing that this type of stuff would kill her. "Wh-what are you talking about woman?"

"I'm saying that she may try all she wants but the chances are extremely low." Dr. Debois explains.

"Is there something wrong with me, what do you mean you she can't get pregnant?" He goes into a rage fit.

"There isn't anything wrong with you." She sighed. "It's just impossible for Felicity to easily take in sperm."

"Man, fuck you." Dallas said before throwing the phone back into the cell.

He turned around to see Felicity enter the apartment with a smile, in her hands were papers that had all different kinds of handwriting on each separate sheet of paper. It was going to pain her after Dallas breaks down the news.

Felicity drops her belongings onto the dining table, "Got the kids to write me out their favorite novels, the best ones get to be read in class."

Dallas sat down on the couch while she comes to him.

"I saw one asking for Captain America." She snorted.

Felicity notices Dallas' bland demeanor, she sits next to him with her arms around his neck, her head in front of him with doe eyes.

"Baby, talk to me."

"I just got off the phone with Dr. Debois." Dallas stated.

Felicity sat up, her body language asking for immediate answers.

"She um-" he paused, "told me about the results of the blood test."

"And, and?" She pestered, hands folded over her mouth.

"I'm sorry babe, I really tried to give you what you wanted." His head hung low.

"I-I can't have a baby?" She stammered.

He looked into her eyes to see the tears, not wanting to hurt her anymore. "Said that we could try all we want but it's just impossible."

Felicity couldn't hold herself any longer and was breaking down in his arms. The dream of hers was crushed, she wanted to know what was going on inside of her that ruined her future.

"I'm so sorry, Felicity, I really wanted this life for you."

"How can my dreams that felt real come to something like this?" Felicity choked.

"We'll be okay, babe, you and me, we'll be free." Dallas assured her.

She picked herself up and looked at him, "Yeah. I'll be okay, I'm okay."

Dallas brushed through her blonde locks but sorrow and guilt pang his chest.

"I love you, I love you no matter what." Felicity said while wiping her tears.

"And I'll love you forever." He responded.

Though it wasn't the life that she wanted for herself, she was fortunate enough to find someone to be with forever. That happened to be Dallas Winston. They would be there for each other, through anything.
