We had been walking for goodness knows how long. The beavers kept leading us in the direction to where Aslan was.
"Now Aslan's camp is near the Stone Table just across the frozen river" the beaver tells us
"River?" Peter asks
"The river's been frozen solid for hundred years." Mrs. Beaver tells us
"It's so far" Peter says as you look over to where they were pointing
"It's the world, dear. Did you expect it to be small?" Mrs. Beaver asks him
"Smaller" Susan says
Lucy grabs hold of my hand as we follow the beavers again. This walk was longer than I thought it was, even after seeing how far we had to go, it just seemed like we were walking no where.
"Come on humans! While we're still young" Mr. Beaver says looking back at all of us who had fallen behind some
"If he tells us to hurry up one more time, I'm gonna turn him into a big fluffy hat" Peter grumbles
"Not if I turn him into a rug first. I mean, how can a beaver walk this fast this long?" I ask them as they all let out a chuckle
"Hurry up! Come on!" Mr. Beaver yells
"He is getting a little bossy" Lucy agrees
"No! Behind you! It's her!" Mrs. Beaver yells as we all turn back seeing a sleigh coming our way, quickly.
"Run run run!" Mr. Beaver yells as we all take off running
It felt like forever until we finally got to the trees.
"Hurry! Inside!" Mr. Beaver tells us pointing at a small cave covered by snow
"Dive dive!" Mr. Beaver urges us as we all run inWe all stay quiet as we heard footsteps above us, then after a few seconds they went away.
"Maybe she's gone" Lucy suggests
"I suppose I'll go look" I tell them getting up
"No! You're worth nothing to Narnia dead" Mr. Beaver tells me
"Well neither are you beaver" Mrs. Beaver tells him
"Thanks sweetheart" he smiles before slowly crawling out of the cave"What's that? What's-" Mrs. Beaver says as we hear footsteps coming back.
But luckily it was just Mr. Beaver, he pops his head into the cave
"Come out! Come out! I hope you've all been good cause there's someone here to see you" he tells us
Confused as we all were, we climbed out of the cave to see the one and only, Father Christmas.
"Merry Christmas sir" Lucy smiles
"It certainly is Lucy. Since you have arrived" he tells her
"Look I've put up with a lot since we got here but this-" Susan starts to say
"We thought you were the white witch" Peter cuts her off
"Yes yes sorry about that, but in my defense, I have been driving one of these longer than the witch" he laughs taking off his gloves
"I thought they said there was no Christmas in Narnia" I sort of ask him
"No. Not for a long time. But the hope that you have brought, you're majesties, is finally starting to weaken the witch's power" he tells us"Still, I dare say you could do with these" he says reaching into the back of his sleigh
"Presents!" Lucy exclaims
He grabs a small red bottle in front of her
"The juice of the fire-flower. One drop will cure any injury" he tells her as she takes it in her hands
"And though I hope you never have to use it" he says handing her a small dagger
"Thank you sir. I think I could be brave enough" she tells him
"I'm sure you could. But battles are ugly affairs" he says
Lucy steps back towards us as he pulls out a bow and arrow.
"Susan" he calls out and she steps forward
She takes it in her hand looking at it with unsure eyes
"Trust in this bow and it will not easily miss" he tells her
"What happened to 'battles are ugly affairs'?" She asks him
"Though you don't seem to have a problem making yourself heard" he laughs taking something else out of his bag
He hands her a small white horn, an engraved lion on both sides along with a strap.
"Blow on this and wherever you are, help will come" he tells her as she takes it in her hand
"Thanks" she smiles as she steps back
"Peter" Father Christmas calls out as he steps forward
He holds a long sliver sword and gives it to him.
"The time to use these may be near at hand" he tells him handing him a shield as well
Peter holds both of them with pride before looking up at him
"Thank you sir" he nods stepping back as well"And Cora" he calls out and I take a deep breath before stepping forward
I watch as he pulls out another sword, but this one had a different look to it, and almost a different glow.
"Now this one is special, it is not just any sword. At any point, at any time, no matter how far apart you are from this sword. You can say the words 'Éla' and it shall come to you." He tells him as I take it in my hands, the feeling almost feeling natural.
Then he grabs one last thing from the bag. It was a horn like Susan's but mine was blue instead of red.
"Now this is much like Susan's, at the blow of this horn, help shall come. Even if it's across the world that it has to come from" he tells me as I take it in my hands
"Thank you sir, truly" I smile"These are tools, not toys. Bear them well and wisely" he tells us
"Now I must be off. Winter is almost over, and things do pile up when you've been gone a hundred years." He says getting back on his sleigh
"Long live Aslan! And merry Christmas!" He yells taking off
"Merry Christmas!" We all yell back
"See you next year!" He yells
"Goodbye!" Lucy yells one last time before looking at us
"Told you he was real" she laughs
"He said winter was almost over. You know what that means, no more ice" Peter tells us as we all realize what he meant
