Once we had gotten to the hill just by the river, we saw it had already started to melt. Big pieces were breaking off every second.
"We need to cross now!" Peter hurry's us
"Don't beavers make dams?" Lucy asks
"Not that fast dear" Mrs. Beaver tells her
"Come on!" Peter says grabbing Lucy's arm
"Wait! Will you think about this for a minute?" Susan asks
"We don't have a minute!" Peter exclaims
"I'm just trying to be realistic" she says
"No you're just trying to be smart, as usual" Peter tells her

Before anyone could say anything else we heard the sound of wolves howling. We all looked at each other before taking off towards the breaking ice.
Peter tried to press his foot down but part of it sank into the water
"Wait. Maybe I should go first" Mr. Beaver says
"Maybe you should" Peter agrees quickly

He slowly backs onto the ice using his tail to check it.
"You've been sneaking second helpings, haven't you?" Mrs. Beaver asks him
"Well you never know which meals gonna be your last. Especially with your cooking." he tells her
I decided to step onto the ice first as I saw Peter was very hesitant. After I did the rest of them slowly followed.
"If mum knew what we were doing-" Susan mumbles
"Mums not here" Peter tells her annoyed
"Oh no!" Lucy exclaims as pieces of ice from the rocks start to fall down, and we looked up to see the wolves running across from above
"Hurry!" I tell them all as we try to run across but we're quickly stopped by the wolves jumping in front of us.

Mr. Beaver tried to attack but was quickly bit in the shoulder as Mrs. Beaver lets out a scared gasp. Peter then quickly takes out his sword pointing it at the wolf.
"Put that down boy. Someone could get hurt" the wolf tells him
"Don't worry about me! Run him through!" Mr. Beaver tells him
"Leave now while you can, and your brother leaves with you" the wolf tells him
"Stop Peter! Maybe we should listen to him!" Susan says grabbing onto his shoulder
"Smart girl" the wolf tells her
"Don't listen to him! Kill him! Kill him!" Mr. Beaver tells him still on the ground
"Oh come on, this isn't your war. All my Queen wants is for you to take your family and go" the wolf says
"Look just because some man in a red coat hands you a sword, doesn't make you a hero! Just drop it!" Susan tells him
"No peter! Narnia needs you! Gut him while you still have a chance" Mr. Beaver tells him
"What's in gonna be son of adam? I won't wait forever, and neither will the river" the wolf says stepping closer

Then the sound of loud cracks turn are attention. I look up to see the ice about to drop from the water trying to flow out.
"Peter! Move!" I yell stepping in front drawing out my sword

I push my sword into the ice
"Hold onto me!" I yell they all quickly grab onto me as the ice breaks sending a huge wave our way, pushing us forward as the ice around us breaks. I gasp for a breath as we finally come up from the water. I glance back at the rest of them to see Susan on my right and Peter holding Lucy on my left.

Finally we reach the land as we all crawl up, coughing up the water. Then I turn around to see a worried expression on Peter's face
"Peter what's wrong?" I ask him
He doesn't answer, all he does is lift up the coat in his hands, the coat Lucy was wearing.
"What have you done?" Susan exclaims
"Lucy!" I yell looking around for her
"Lucy!" Susan yells

"Has anyone seen my coat?" We hear Lucy asks from the side
Susan and I quickly run over giving her a hug as a sigh of relief washes over us all.
"Don't you dare do that again" I tell her
"Yes ma'am" she laughs
"Don't worry dear. Your brothers got you well looked after" Mrs. Beaver tells her

We all tried to dry off somewhat as Peter gave Lucy her coat.
"I don't think you'll be needing those coats any more" Mrs. Beaver says as we all look over. You could see the sunlight shining through the trees and a small blossom flower blooming.
"Winter is finally coming to an end" I softly repeat the words he told us
