Maeve's pov:
I wake up feeling a lot better than the previous night. My ma took care of me and gave me lots of pills to help the cold. I look at my clock, noticing I have plenty of time to get myself up and ready for school.
I put on my uniform and check myself out in the mirror. I notice my ears are looking a bit scruffy, so I style them neatly. Puffing out my long tail and clipping a pink bow on the tip of my tail. For a final touch, im going to wear my pink bandana that i love to wear.Done.
I walk downstairs and greet my mother with a big hug.
"Hey MaeMae, you feeling better?" She questions with curiosity.
"Yeah! A lot better, thanks, Ma." I say excitedly. We eat breakfast and get into the car. Admiring the views out the window as my mum drives me to school.
I wave my mum off as I go to enter the school gates. Walking through the hallways, I make my way to gym class. I've never liked the idea of being in a small, crowded room getting changed with other people I don't know. Creeps me out. I take a deep breath in and open the changing room door. Silence.
I let out a sigh of relief and prop my gym bag on a bench, unpacking my kit and undressing. Appreciating the fact that nobody is in here with m-
The door opens, and Mallory walks in, making direct eye contact with me.
"OH MY!" I squeal loudly. Grabbing my shirt and pulling it across my chest.
Her eyes widen, and she turns around immediately.
I quickly nag my shirt over my head and adjust it properly until I am no longer topless.
"Okay, im dressed." I mutter embarrassingly.
She slowly turns around with a bright red face and walks past me to another bench without saying a word. Strange. Maybe I frightened her.
"Sorry about that. I didn't expect anyone to walk in so soon. " I apologise.
She hums in response. Okay, that was rude.
I put my things away in a locker and head towards the gymnasium. I sit on the bench that is placed against a wall in the arena as I wait for other students to come in.
As quickly as time flies, students pile up in the arena and chat before the teacher comes.
"Hello all! Welcome to gym class. For today's lesson, I want you to get in groups of 4 and practise your throwing and catching skills with one another." Mrs. Rider announces.
I panic. Who am I going to go with? Am I going to be all alone?
I snap out my thoughts as I hear someone shouting.
"Hey!Meiwfa, wanna join us?" I hear a girl with ginger hair as well as bright orange and white ears and tail beam in my direction. I think she's a fox? They exist, right?
With a confused look on my face, I point a finger at myself to confirm she is talking to me.
She nods vigorously.
I hesitantly walk my way over to her and the rest of her friends. I kept my head down, figuring out where to look.
"Hey, I'm Lucy! I'm a fox." She states.
I smile at her friendliness.
"I'm Bex, witch!" The person on Lucy's right says.
"And I'm Diana. Just an ordinary human!" The girl on Lucy's left insinuates.
They all seem so welcoming.
"I'm Maeve! As you can probably tell, I'm a Meifwa! You all seem so nice and friendly! You guys look older than me, are you on your last year?" I whisper shyly.
"Awww, you're so sweet! You looked alone, so I thought I'd invite you over to be with us. Plus, you seem really cool. Yeah, we are all on our last year. Im guessing you're on your 3rd year? So you have 2 years left?" Lucy speaks with honesty.
I can feel my face flush and nod. I am so nervous and have no idea who these people are or why they chose to talk to me.
"Well, we better get started! Let's spice things up and throw the ball to one of us at random. Keeping everyone on their toes to see how good our reaction time is." Bex implies.
"Awh mannnn, I suck at these things." Diana wines.
I giggle, and the other girls join in.
"I'm sure you will do great." I admit.
She serves me a warm smile with a nod, and we start playing.
