Eric Locke's pov:
"We have a problem." I grit through the phone.
"Eric. What's wrong. We haven't spoken in years." He questions.
"Blake Harley." I spit.
....
"He's back?" His voice tremors.
"No. He's not. I don't think so. His daughter is friends with mine. I don't know what to do. Mally was talking to me earlier. She was smiling at her phone so I asked. She said she is friends with Maeve Harley. I knew I recognised the name somewhere, but it makes sense. She said Maeve is a meifwa. So it Blake. It can't be a coincidence. Zac, what do I do?" I plead.
...
"Wait. Maeve Harley? Diana's friends with her, too." Zachary remarks.
"What? Is Mallory friends with anyone else?" I frown.
"She hasn't mentioned Mallory. So I don't think so. However, this all seems too weird." He implies.
"Tell me about it. I don't trust this. Not one bit. Is Elizabeth still friends with Lilia?" I question.
"I don't think they have spoken for a few years. Everyone parted ways before the children grew up. I honestly don't think Diana and Ziana will remember Mallory or Johnny, for that matter, let alone Maeve." Zac says with a sigh.
"I don't ever remember meeting Maeve. I know Blake mentioned her, but he never brought her with him." I huff.
"What are you going to do?" He asks.
"Protect my family." I hiss.
"You can't take away everything from her life, Eric! She's just a girl." A feminine voice yells from a distance within the phone.
"Hello to you too, Elizabeth." I grunt.
Zac chuckles.
"Got to go. Keep me updated. This isn't something to take lightly. Stay safe, Eric." He pleads.
"You too, Zac." I mutter before ending the call. Flumping my head against my desk.
Why does this all have to be so complicated?
Knock. Knock.
I stand up and unlock the door.
Delilah is standing there with a frown as she steps into my office. Arms open, welcoming me in.
"This needs to be dealt with." She utters.
A sigh of frustration hits me as I rest my head on her shoulder.
"I know." I whisper.
We sit down and talk about what's been happening and what to expect. I can tell my wife is on edge, but we need to be prepared.
"We can't let her get any closer with that girl. I'm sorry, but she can't. It's not worth the risk. Her father is Blake Harley for christ sake." She spits as she shudders.
"I know. We will restrict her. As long as she doesn't push it, she can still be friends with her. Just not close. Deal?" I nod to Delilah.
She nods back.
"I really hate that man." She scoffs.
I chuckle.
"Agreed. Let's just hope he stays where he belongs." I grunt as she hums in return.
Zachary Shea's pov:
As my wife and I are sat on the couch, we talk about my previous call.
This can not be taken lightly.
"First of all. Did you realise Diana is friends with Maeve Harley?" I question her.
"My old bestie's daughter? That's great!!! I need to meet with her again!" She exclaims.
I give her a serious look.
"Sorry. I guess not. There isn't anything to worry about, Zac. Blake is gone. Lilia and Maeve are sweet and amazing. I don't know why Eric is so on edge. What's actually the problem?" She bites.
I mean,....it's Blake.
Is it, though? It's his daughter. Who probably doesn't even remember him. He's gone now. She's right. There isn't any problems.
"See, there aren't any! Eric is just a big cranky wolf who needs a break from being so on edge because of his family's ancestors." She innocently claims.
She's right, though.
I nod my head.
Diana Shea's pov:
Mum and dad seem stressed downstairs. I give them their space and stay in my room. Putting on my headphones and watching netflix on my laptop.
I pause my laptop and head to the bathroom. Coming out of my room and heading to the right.
I hear whispering and hushed voices, and I swear I hear Maeve's name mentioned. I shake it off and head back to my room. Placing my headphones on my head and un pausing my show.
Hours pass, and I hear mum shouting dinner is ready. I leave my room and bang on my sisters door.
"Ziana, come on! Dinner!!" I shout.
"Go away!" She screams back.
I roll my eyes and head downstairs.
The vibe feels normal and a lot less tense than earlier, which I'm loving. We eat dinner together and enjoy the rest of our night.
Maeve's pov:
As I get off the game with Mallory, I feel hunger, so I go to the kitchen. Making myself a snack and heading straight back to my room. I check the girls groupchat and no one has said anything, so I get in bed and turn on my tv.
Putting on a comfort show and watching it until I feel my eyes drop.
I open my phone, preparing for a blinding beam as I go to Mallory's contact.
"Goodnight, Mallory. See you tomorrow :)"
-Me
I switch off my phone and turn my tv off. Getting comfortable and falling asleep.
