SOUSUKE
—❁—

The whole time Kou and I were sitting beside each other in class, I couldn't stop thinking about the kiss that we shared last night. I could feel how nervous I was every time I glanced over in his general direction beside me.

We hadn't made anything official.. even though I really wanted to say something to him. I was just afraid of what all could happen if we ended up tying some sort of knot between us.

"Alright class, for the remainder of the period I would like you all to continue working on your essays. If you have completed yours, please be sure to find something productive to do." I glance up from my notebook as I feel Kou's foot softly tap mine underneath the table. I then glanced over at him, trying my best not to get a red face. "I bet I could win against you in tic-tac-toe." He smiles, shoving his notebook over to me. Once I glanced down at the paper I could see that he filled the whole page up with some tic-tac-toe boards. "Best out of—" He grows silent as he counts the number of boards again. "—something. You can go first."
"Were you drawing these all hour?" I look up at him from the notebook he had shoved in front of me. "Maybe.. now go on, play!" Kou smiles and watches as I draw a pink X right in the center of the first board. "What does the winner get?" "What's the winner get?" He repeats my question and draws an O someplace else on the board. "How about.. the winner get's a really awesome high-five from me? That seems totally fair." I smile and softly nudge his shoulder. "Yeah right. I could just ask you for one of those, I don't need to win it."

As Kou finishes up writing down another O after I put down another X, I feel him look at me before looking back at the paper again. "So.. um—" He softly mutters and watches as I block off his row of 2 O's with an X. "—what are we.. exactly.." I smile, quickly placing an X that gives me 3 in a row. "I don't know.." I look up at him and rest my elbows on the table. "Whatever you want us to be I guess."
"Damnit!" He sets his pen down and copies me, also setting his elbows on the table. He then began to tap one of his fingers on his forearm while his eyes stayed focused on me. "What's that supposed to mean? It's a serious question.." I shrug and take my eyes off of him, moving my gaze off to the side. "Surely that kiss didn't mean anything." He softly whispers to me, which was enough to bring my attention back on him.

He was right about that, it's not like it didn't mean anything. When I told him that I loved him.. it wasn't a complete lie.

"I'm scared of what might happen if we make anything official." I mutter before looking back down at his tic-tac-toe sheet, placing an X down on a new board. "So then it meant something?" Kou set's an O down beside the X I drew. "Of course it meant something.. it was exchanged, wasn't it?" He nods. "Yeah, but what about what you said a little afterwards? Surely that wasn't an empty display of words.." "It wasn't." I look up at him. "You made me feel valued and heard, and it was the only thing that I could think of saying." I look back down at the paper once again and block off his O. "I'm bitchy.. but not bitchy enough to lie about how I feel." "Mm." Kou makes a noise of understanding before securing a three in a row.

The two of us continued to converse about what happened in the dorm last night up until it was time for dismissal. Once school let out for the day, we made our way back to the library so that we could get our essays printed out.

"What are you gonna pay me for writing your essay for you?" I raise an eyebrow and look up at Kou as we both walk into the library. "Was last night not enough for you? I gave you whatever it was that you were so desperate about."
"A dollar maybe? Like, as an addition—"
"No addition. You did me a favor and you should be pleased with that."
"A yen? I know you have some of those.."
I softly smile and take a seat at the computer that was situated beside the printer that the two of us were planning on using. Kou made himself comfortable standing beside me as he leaned over enough to still access the computer so he could sign into it and retrieve the essays.
"Wow.. denying me a single yen and stealing the computer seat.." He fake sniffles and wipes an imaginary tear away from his eye as the documents load. "You're such an evil human being."
"If I'm so evil then why are you hanging around me?" I smile and swivel the chair a little towards his direction, eyeing his side profile playfully.
