CHAPTER 27 - main theme

"So like.. if you're an exorcist, does that mean you can see ghosts.. right now?"

Kou softly chuckles from across the table we were seated at and takes a sip of his soda before looking at me. "I'm not that cool."
"Then.. are you able to feel their presence or whatever?"
"Not every place is haunted, Sousuke."
"I'm so sure there's at least one ghost haunting this restaurant."
"Haunting a hole in the wall corndog restaurant? I doubt it."
"You never know.. what if someone choked on their food and died, like.. right where you're sitting?"
Kou scoffs and sips more of his soda, lightly shaking his head. "That someone is gonna be you here in a second if you don't pay attention to eating your food.."
"Is that a threat?"
"Nah, I'm just saying.. be careful."
I smile and hold my corndog out to Kou, "Do you want to taste at least a bite before it's all gone? It's super delicious.."
"Yeah okay.. don't kill me though."
"Shut up and just take a bite!"

I hold my hand underneath of Kou's chin and give him a bite, making sure I catch any lose crumbs in my palm as he bites down into the corndog.

"How is it?"
Kou's eyebrows furrow and he puts his fisted hand over his mouth while he chews, nodding. "Damn.."
"See? I told you they're yummy!"
He nods again and swallows before drying his mouth off with one of the napkins from the center of the table. "I may just have to go grab one of those.."
"Aren't you glad that I suggested this place now?"
"Totally." He smiles again before sipping more of his soda, glancing down at his phone as it buzzes on the table. Since it was none of my business to be nosy, I looked over toward the order counter and took another bite of my food. "Give me just a sec, I gotta take this." Kou looks at me and gets up from the table, walking off to the bathroom and leaving me at the table.

Whatever it was must've been somewhat urgent.. but hopefully not too serious.

He soon came back with a smile on his face and sat back down across from me.
"Who was it?"
"It was just Teru, he was telling me that he's going to stop by tomorrow to get my dirty laundry so he can wash it back at home for me. He didn't want to worry about not being able to tell me sometime tonight."
I softly smile and grab his soda, getting a small sip of it. "So now you're forcing other people to clean your clothes?"
"No way! I'm not forcing him by any means, it's more like fulfilling his wishes."
"Yeah, whatever.."
"You just stole some of my drink so I don't want to hear it." He gets up and stretches, grabbing my hand as I also get up from my seat.
"You act like it's a crime to be thirsty."
"It's not a crime to be thirsty, but it is a crime to steal my drink."
"Whatever! You're making it out like I have gross cooties or something.."
"Oh yeah, you totally do." He smiles and wraps his arm around me as we walk over to a trash can so I can throw my trash away. "I'm quite scared to drink this now."
"You're so pathetic.." I smile wider and lightly hit his chest with the back of my hand as he opens the door for me and allows me to walk out of the restaurant before him. "Anyways, you know what I think we should do?"
"What's up?"
"We should make a whole night of this, like.. just hang out or whatever."
"Are you trying to ask me out on a date?"
"No, I'm waiting for you to do it." I look up at him as we both stop at a crosswalk, standing amongst the group of pedestrians who were waiting to cross the street.
"Okay.. let's make this outing a date then." Kou holds his cup over to me, ushering for me to grab it. Once I have the cup in my hands I grab onto the straw and sip some more of his drink. "You down for the arcade?"
"Only if you win me an awesome prize."
"Consider it done.. even though you're incapable of asking me out on dates."
"I can't help it that literally anything you say about me right to my face is romantic. I love hearing you mention me.. indirectly or not."
Kou chuckles, "Is that right?"
"Yeah actually, it is." I drink more of the soda in the cup and look up at him again. "Do you want any more of this or is it mine?"
"It's all you."
