"So today the will be the Quiddich tryouts for the Hufflepuff team?" Amelia quitely asked Cedric while they were having a little walk through the Hogwarts' courtyard, wrapped into their warm cloaks and scarfs. It was only October, but the weather soon became colder in the Scottish landscapes.

The older boy smoothly slipped his hands in his pockets, turning his head on his left to look at Amelia. "Yeah," he confirmed, "but it's not that exciting, really. With me being the captain, I have to be there until everyone has played and believe me, out of all the people who come to try, only a few are actually decent enough to make it to the team."

She hummed distractaly. Not that she had ever witnessed the tryouts, but she didn't think they would be this boring. However, she would have preferred to be in Cedric's shoes than having to attend Cure of Magical Creatures every day!

Granger's cat today had already made her start the day on the wrong foot by jumping on her bed while she was finally asleep. Useless to say that she lost ten years of life, returning a toddler. That orange monster had to be very prudent whenever he was around her cause the ice princess wouldn't always be there to shield him from Amelia, and then she could have easily had her revenge. It was just a matter of time before Crookshanks understood that he couldn't play with a Black and was lucky enough not to have to face the consequences yet.

"What about you?" Cedric asked. "Have you ever thought of joining the Gryffindor Quiddich team?"

Amelia let out a sarcastic laughter, slightly shaking her head in disagreement. "I'm already lucky to be still alive given the hatred everyone has for me. No one would ever want me to be on the team."

The older boy's smile faded, replaced with a sorrowful look. He couldn't wrap his mind about the fact that someone could ever dislike Amelia. She was incredible, maybe a bit tough at the beginning, but once she understood she could trust you, she would show only the best part of her, the one which made Cedric care for her as if she was his little sister after their first meeting.

"I'm sorry," he said, "I wish you didn't have to deal with all of that."

But the girl didn't seem sad about it. She just shrugged, "it's alright, Ced," she calmly replied, intertwining their hands and swinging their arms back and forth, causing the boy to smile. "I've gotten used to it by now; besides, until I have you and Harry, I don't need anyone else."

"Hmm... I wonder whose team you will support once the Quiddich season has finally started."

The shorter girl gently hit his side with her elbow, raising her head to look at him. "Now don't push your luck, Ced," she grinned. "I'll always be a Gryffindor even if the others won't accept it. The Sorting Hat and I have already had a fight about it, and it seemed deeply convinced that I belonged to Gryffindor, so I guess I'll just stick to it."

Cedric stared at her astonished, momentarily stopping walking. "Did you seriously dare to argue with the Sorting Hat?"

"Yes... why?"

He chuckled, running his free hand through his beautiful dark, brown, curly hair, letting a rebel wave fall onto his face. "I don't think I have ever known anyone who had the gut to even talk to the Hat, much less discussing with it!"

"Well, we definitely weren't on the same page, and I wasn't going to give up on my original choice of house so soon," Amelia affirmed, resuming to walk around Hogwarts.

"You are really something else, Amy," Cedric beamed, positively impressed by the younger girl. He wasn't sure if she was aware of that, but he could clearly see that she was a fighter. Not because she argued with the Sorting Hat, but because of how she was handling her not so easy situation. Perhaps, if he had been in her shoes, he wouldn't have been able to cope with having her shitty family and all the hate she was receiving from the majority of the people as brilliantly as she did.
