:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:Amelia was completely speechless after what she had seen. It was true that she wasn't fond of that weird animal, but Buckbeak didn't deserve this awful end. If only Draco hadn't set up one of his shows now, the Hippogriff would still be alive, and Hagrid wouldn't have a shattered heart. If only she had been better at researching in first place...
"Hagrid..." Harry muttered. Without thinking about what he was doing, he made to turn back, but Amelia was quick to grab him by his wrist, keeping him under the Invisibility Cloak.
"We can't go back, Harry," Amelia softly told him when his glittering eyes laid on hers. "He would be in worse trouble if we were seen with him." She knew he was hurting and that he would have wanted nothing more than punch the ones who were responsible for Buckbeak's death, but at the moment, there was nothing they could do to help Hagrid without causing more issues to him.
Granger's breathing was shallow and uneven. "How... could... they?" She choked, involuntarily reaching for Amelia's hand to squeeze in comfort. "How could they?"
Amelia knew she shouldn't feel this way when she had just witnessed an execution, but her heart skipped a beat as soon as she felt the older girl's soft hand on hers. She gave a gentle squeeze in return, wearing a reassuring smile that made Granger's eyes soften at the sight of it.
"Come on, we gotta move," said Ron, whose teeth were chattering.
They all set off back towards the castle, walking slowly to keep themselves hidden beneath the cloak. By the time they reached open ground, darkness was setting like a spell around them.
"Scabbers, stay still!" Hissed Ron, clamping his hand over his chest. The rat was wriggling madly. Ron came to a sudden halt, trying to force Scabbers into his pocket. "What's the matter with you, stupid rat? Stay still -- OUCH! He bit me!"
It was too funny not to laugh, but Amelia was desperately trying not to let out a laughter not to produce more noise than necessary. She had to cover her mouth with both of her hands not to accidentally explode. 'Maybe he simply doesn't like you, Weasley... He wouldn't be the first one.'
"Ron, be quiet!" Granger whispered urgently. "Fudge will be out here in a minute --"
"He won't -- stay -- put --"
Amelia could see that Scabbers was terrified. He was writhing with all his might, trying to break free from the redhead's grip. She swore that if he kept acting that way, she would grab it and lob it as far as she could; Ron already despised her, so what could she have lost?
"What's the matter with him?" Harry asked.
But just then, Amelia saw the wide yellow eyes glinting eerily in the darkness, the same eyes she challenged every damn day in her dorm... He was stinking towards them, his body low to the ground, probably following Scabbers' squeaks. It was Granger's killer cat, Crookshanks.
"You should have taught your cat to mind his own business, Granger, you know." Amelia said, refraining herself from jumping in the older girl's arms, utterly petrified.
Granger smiled tenderly at her, knowing how scared she was right now. "He's not going to come near you, Amelia," she reassured her, "I'll make sure of it."
"Crookshanks!" Granger groaned. "No, go away, Crookshanks! Go away!"
However, that orange little git didn't listen to his owner and grew nearer, causing Amelia to narrow her eyes, grabbing the ice princess' wrist with a death grip.
