| DANCING WITH OUT HANDS TIED by Taylor Swift |
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:Outside the weather was horrible. Little snowflakes kept falling on Hogwarts' magnificent lawn. They settled on the windows, on the roof... everywhere, creating a magical atmosphere.
Amelia's favourite season had arrived. She, before she went to Beauxbatons, used to wander around the Black's manor wrapped in warm blankets with a cup of hot chocolate in hand. She spent entire days in her tiny room reading books on the windowsill, occasionally glancing out and being mesmerised by the nature covered in white.
Most of the times she was alone in that giant house with the only exception of their house elf: Kreacher. That small creature had been Amelia's only friend for so long, keeping her company when her uncle was at work at the ministry and Aaron was studying at Hogwarts.
He was gentle with her. He always told her that she reminded him of his former owner, who, by the way, was even her other uncle, Regulus, that she never met.
Regulus Black was the youngest brother just as Amelia, and he was often cut off by Sirius, arguing about everything. Arthur, as the eldest one, was constantly away with their father to get ready to be the next leader of the Black's house. Regulus suffered a lot during his childhood, deciding eventually to follow Voldemort and becoming a Death Eater. The elf painted him as a hero, not really giving her an explanation of why he saw him that way. "He redeemed himself." The elf said anytime Amelia would ask him how Regulus died, but the girl hadn't understood the meaning of his phrase yet.
That was all Amelia learned about her dead uncle from Kreacher's stories. There weren't pictures of him at her house, so the creature's descriptions would have to be enough for her. She imagined him similar to her father, but thinner and with dark, curly hair; with the spirit of a true rebellious, sassy, but hiding a soft spot deep down inside his heart. Amelia liked to think he had abandoned the wrong path, allying with the good side, but she had no certainties of it.
The young girl had spent years dreaming of living another life where she wasn't a member of the Black's family holding a heavy surname, having to act as an adult even when all she wanted to do was playing as a normal child. For once, she wished she was just a girl. Maybe she would have been happier than she was now.
"Love birds, wake up!" It echoed in Amelia's ear, causing her to groan loudly. She felt a body stirring beside her, and she remembered she wasn't in her bed.
Yesterday, Harry offered her to read her a romance book that came from the muggle world. He had specifically chosen it for her since she had told him she wanted to learn something about her mother's original world. It wasn't anything that would require her much attention to understand its plot, but it was engaging the same.
It talked about Lara, a twenty four years old journalist who fell hopelessly in love with her childhood best friend. She had never said the words "I love you" to anyone before she confessed her feelings to him. She had grown up thinking she wasn't worth receiving love, but then she bumped into Nathan again after ten years spent apart, and he dedicated his whole existence worshipping Lara, making sure she got all the attentions she deserved. He had made her feel seen, heard, loved... if only Amelia had someone like Nathan into her life...
She and Harry stayed in the common room all night, falling asleep on the couch too tired to retire into their respective dorms. The green eyed boy held her close to himself, letting her rest her head on his chest as he tenderly embraced her in his arms.
It had been the first night Amelia didn't wake up covered in cold sweat due to her nightmares, and it was all thanks to her comfort person, Harry.
"Come on, guys," a familiar voice whined. "It's Christmas! And I wanna open my presents with you all."
