THE DAY BEFORE THE FEST:

Aparajita was tidying up the house, taking advantage of the holiday to give her room a thorough cleaning. With the hectic university schedule and constant work, weekdays offered no time for such indulgences. Ahana, on the other hand, was at the university, swamped with administrative duties that demanded her presence even on holidays.

APARAJITA'S POV

As I was busy cleaning, my phone rang. It was the security guard, a diligent and honest man despite his age.

Security : "Hello Aparajita mam, a parcel has arrived for you. Please come down quickly to collect it."

Aparajita; "But I haven’t ordered anything."

Security: "No, someone sent it to you."

Puzzled about who might have sent me something, as only three people know I am here—Vivaan, Shruti, and Ahana—I agreed.

Apara: "Okay, I’ll be right there. Please wait a moment."

I washed my hands, locked my door, and went downstairs to collect the parcel from the office. It was quite large, which only added to my curiosity and unease. Once back in my room, I hesitated, staring at the box.

"Should I open it? But what if it’s something troubling?"I thought.

I finally decided to open it, reasoning that I needed to know what was inside.

As soon as I lifted the lid, my heartbeat quickened. Inside, I found a collection of items that brought a wave of dread over me. The wedding bangles, vividly red, made my hands tremble. I clearly remembered these from my wedding. I set them aside, then picked up the mangalsutra, which bore the initials "ASR." The sight of it made me feel nauseous, and I placed it carefully on the side table, determined not to dwell on the past.

Lastly, I removed a red saree, sindoor, and some accessories. As I was putting everything back in the parcel, I discovered a letter tucked at the bottom. My hands shook as I unfolded it, and my eyes widened with terror as I read:

"My Queen,

How are you? I hope you are doing well. I know you don't miss me, but darling, I missed you terribly. My guards informed me that you don't wear your mangalsutra or even the vermillion. Have you forgotten that you are married, or should I come to your university? I know you wouldn't appreciate that, so behave accordingly. You know how much it irks me when you disobey. Also, I didn't realize you were so naive, living in the same place for the past 1.5 years, thinking I, Abhimaan Singh Rathore, wouldn’t find you. You must have forgotten what my power can do. Don't worry, I’m coming to take you back. Love you, sweetheart."

The weight of the letter’s words was crushing. My body went numb, and I fainted on the spot.

LATER AT EVENING:

Ahana returned from work and knocked repeatedly on the door, but there was no response. Concerned, she went to the warden for a spare key. Upon entering, she found  Aparajita unconscious on the floor. She quickly called the doctor and helped her  to the bed. She sprinkled some water on her face, but aparajita remained unresponsive.

The doctor arrived and began examining Apara. As she checked my condition, she noticed the parcel and letter on the table and realized what had caused her collapse. After prescribing some medication and giving Aparajita an injection, the doctor assured Ahana that she would regain consciousness in about 3-4 hours.

Ahana prepared some light food and placed it on a small table beside her bed. When she finally woke up, she gently urged her  to eat and take the medication. They avoided discussing the parcel and went to bed.

ELSEWHERE IN INDIA:

In a dark, opulent mansion, Abhimaan sat like a king on a throne, exuding an aura of malevolence. His eyes were cold and calculating, revealing nothing of the man he once was.

Abhimaan: "Did you send the parcel to the specified address?"

1st Man: "Yes, boss. It has been sent."

Abhimaan: "Good. Did our guards see her after the parcel was delivered?"

2nd Man: "No, boss. She was nowhere to be seen, not even on the balcony. But, sir..." The man stuttered, his fear evident.

Abhimaan’s eyes narrowed. He despised stuttering, and the man’s nervousness only intensified his wrath.

1st Man: "According to the guards, they saw a doctor enter her room."

Hearing this, Abhimaan's heart wavered with a momentary pang of guilt. But then he remembered the betrayal, and his resolve hardened. He ordered increased surveillance and security around her.

Entering his study, he called out in a commanding tone, "Come to the study, immediately."

After a brief pause, there was a knock at the door. Abhimaan’s voice was stern.

Abhimaan:"Come in."

His brother, Aayansh, walked in with a blank expression.

Aayansh: "You called for me, Bhai?"

Abhimaan: "Yes, Aayansh. Make sure the plan is executed perfectly. I cannot afford any mistakes this time."

Aayansh: "Bhai, is all this really necessary? What you’re doing now... it’s wrong."

Abhimaan: "Do as you’re told, or I’ll find someone else to do it. And don't attempt to interfere with my plans."

Aayansh:"But Bhai, don’t you think you’re only causing more pain? There must be another way."

Abhimaan: "You’re overstepping, Aayansh. I’m your elder brother. Follow orders as given, or leave now."

Aayansh, disheartened and angry, exited the room.

IN SHRUTI'S ROOM:

Shruti: "Bhaiya, what are we going to do? Bhai knows everything now... I’m so scared. Please, do something."

Vivaan:"We were only trying to protect Bhabhi. We couldn’t bear to see her suffering. But now... it seems we’ve made a terrible mistake. What do we do now?"

Vivaan’s words were cut short by a loud kick on the door. Aayansh stood there, his face a mask of fury.

Aayansh: "Do you realize what you’ve done, Vivaan and shruti? Everything that's happening now is because of your actions. Do you even understand what Bhai is planning? A bit of common sense could have prevented this."

Shruti’s eyes filled with tears as Vivaan hung his head in shame.

Shruti: "Please, Bhai, forgive us. We didn’t know it would turn out like this."

Vivaan: "Aayansh Bhai, can’t you talk to Abhimaan Bhai? Maybe he’ll understand."

Aayansh: "Do you think this matter is still under our control? You’ve made a grave error. Bhai has given specific orders, and there’s no room for mistakes. Leave me out of this."

With that, Aayansh stormed out of the room, leaving the siblings to face the consequences of their actions.
