AUTHOR'S POV

The Chauhan mansion was a flurry of activity as the preparations for Tara’s birthday party continued throughout the morning. The grand estate, usually serene, had been transformed into a bustling hub, with staff hurrying about to ensure everything was perfect for the evening's celebration.

The decorators were busy in the gardens, stringing up fairy lights and arranging fresh flowers to create a magical ambiance. The stage near the fountain was almost complete, awaiting the final touches before it would be ready for the live band set to perform later that night.

Inside the mansion, the atmosphere was just as lively. The smell of freshly baked pastries and gourmet dishes being prepared in the kitchen filled the air. Servants moved briskly, setting tables with fine china and silverware, ensuring every detail was immaculate.

In the midst of all this, little Tara, the birthday girl, was running around the house with excitement. Dressed in a simple yet pretty morning dress, she was thrilled to see her home being transformed for her special day. Although the party wouldn’t begin until the evening, the anticipation was already building.

“Everything looks so beautiful, Mommy!” Tara exclaimed as she skipped into the main hall, where her mother, Diksha, was overseeing the final preparations.

“It’s going to be perfect, sweetheart,” Diksha replied with a warm smile, though there was a hint of weariness in her eyes from the morning’s work. “But you must rest now so you’re ready for the party tonight.”

Tara nodded eagerly but continued to bounce around, too excited to sit still. She had already distributed her handmade invitation cards with the help of one of the household staff, making sure each of her friends and their families received them at their homes well in advance. Now, she was simply counting down the hours until everyone would arrive.

In the kitchen, the chefs were busy putting the final touches on the day’s menu. The head chef, a stern man with years of experience in catering to the Chauhans, was directing his team with precision. “Make sure the desserts are prepared exactly as requested,” he ordered, his eyes scanning the bustling kitchen. “And keep those trays of appetizers ready for when the guests start arriving this evening.”

As the kitchen staff worked diligently, a group of waiters huddled together near the pantry door, speaking in hushed tones. One of them, a tall man with a stern face, kept glancing around as if making sure they were not being observed.

“We’ve got our instructions,” he whispered to the others. “Everything needs to go smoothly. We’ll blend in with the rest of the staff, but we need to stay alert.”

Another waiter, a shorter man with a nervous expression, nodded but couldn’t hide the anxiety in his eyes. “What if something goes wrong? There’s a lot of people in this place.”

“Nothing will go wrong if we stick to the plan,” the tall man replied sharply, his tone leaving no argument.“Just keep your heads down and do your jobs. We’ll move when the time is right.”

With that, they broke apart, each returning to their duties, but the tension among them was palpable. As they moved through the mansion, they blended seamlessly with the rest of the staff, their suspicious behavior masked by the general busyness of the preparations.

Tara unaware of the underlying tension, continued to buzz around the house, chatting with the servants and checking on the progress of the decorations. She wandered into the kitchen, where she was greeted by the sweet aroma of her birthday cake being baked—a multi-tiered masterpiece that would be the centerpiece of the evening.
