AUTHOR'S POV

The classroom was filled with the low hum of students whispering and the soft scratching of pencils on paper. Diksha was explaining a complex equation on the blackboard when her phone rang. The sudden noise broke the focus in the room. She quickly silenced it and continued with her lesson. But when it rang again, she sighed, knowing she had to answer it this time.

"Class, continue solving the problems on page 94," she instructed before stepping out of the room.

She glanced at the caller ID and saw it was Shruti. Her younger sister had a habit of calling at the most inconvenient times.

"Hello, Shruti. I'm in class. What's so urgent?" Diksha’s voice was a mix of annoyance and concern.

"Di, it's important," Shruti's voice sounded strained and worried.

"What is it?" Diksha’s irritation gave way to apprehension.

"Di, Bhabhi is admitted to the hospital."

Diksha's heart skipped a beat. "What? Why? What happened?"

"Actually, she was in Bhai's basement for the last fifteen days," Shruti's words came out in a rush.

Diksha felt a cold wave of shock wash over her. "What the hell? Was he torturing her?"

"Probably, otherwise, how could she end up in the hospital?" Shruti replied, her voice trembling.

"But how could Dadi allow this? I know she did wrong, but it's totally unethical to bring any woman to the basement. Bhai never used to lay a hand on any woman. How could he do this?" Diksha’s voice was rising, a mixture of disbelief and anger.

"Yeah, I’m very worried too. I called many times, but nobody is picking up," Shruti said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Diksha clenched her fists, trying to control the storm of emotions swirling inside her. "This is insane. I can't believe Bhai would do something like this. And Dadi... she should have stopped him."

"We need to do something, Di. We can’t just sit here," Shruti urged, desperation clear in her voice.

Diksha took a deep breath, trying to think clearly. "I’ll try calling again. If no one answers, we need to go there ourselves. We can’t let this continue."

"Okay, Di. Let me know what they say," Shruti responded.

"I will. Stay strong, Shruti. We’ll get through this," Diksha reassured her sister before ending the call.

She stood in the hallway for a moment, her mind racing. She knew she had to act quickly. The students in her classroom could wait; her family needed her now. Taking another deep breath, she dialed home, hoping someone would pick up and explain what the hell was going on.

Diksha called the landline number of Rathore Mansion, her fingers tapping impatiently as she waited for someone to answer. After a few rings, a maid picked up the call.

"Hello?" the maid answered politely.

"Is there anyone in the Rathore Mansion right now?" Diksha asked, her voice tense with urgency.

"Yes, ma'am. Only Rajendra sir is present. He has just arrived now," the maid replied.

"Okay, where is he?" Diksha inquired.

"In his study," the maid responded.

Diksha hummed in acknowledgment, her mind racing. "Thank you," she said before cutting the call. She grabbed her things and hurried out, determined to get to the bottom of the situation..
