Now that caught Biana's attention. Sophie could be healed? How? But Sophie was the only one who could heal broken minds, but if there was a chance, she was taking it. She was going to do everything to help her friend.
"How?" Biana asked, and the voice shifted into laughter. Laughter she'd recognize anywhere.
"In case you were wondering, yep, it's me!" The voice, no longer anonymous, said.
"You? Keefe Sencen? As in the one who died?" Biana asked, and it really looked like no one could hear her. Which was weird.
Before Biana could ask, Keefe said,
"See, I've put a spiritual shell around us. Right now, everyone thinks you're just randomly sitting there, staring into space. What they don't know is that that's an illusion. And," Keefe continued, "Also, in case you were wondering, I have found access to the living world. It's actually not that hard. In fact, everyone in the spiritworld knows about this but never uses it 'cause they believe it's best not to meddle with living people's affairs, as before it has led to disaster. But I don't think healing Sophie is a disaster. She can't blame herself. Anyways, I can heal her. The thing is-" Keefe's voice cracked, "I am the only one to convince Sophie that. It. Wasn't. Her. Fault. But since I'm dead, that's not possible, right?" He waited until Biana nodded, "But actually, it is. The late Mr. Forkle told me how spirits can enter dreams, but you have to capture the person's attention towards you first. I've never been able to enter Sophie's dreams because I was new to the spiritworld and was still learning. But now," He took a deep breath, "I can. And if I enter her mind and convince her that it wasn't her fault, she could be brought back by a strong telepath. Someone like...""Mr. Forkle." Biana and Keefe said at the same time.
"So, will you do it?" Biana asked, uncertain.
"Of course I will. I would love to heal Foster. After all, she's my girlfriend!" Keefe exclaimed. And while it would have hurt her feelings before, it didn't now. She didn't like Keefe like that way anymore. Her crush on Keefe had vanished almost immediately after she saw Tam. His silver-tipped bangs and his attitude made Biana like him instead, and he was so handsome. And instead of her heart fluttering around Keefe, it fluttered around Tam now.But she really didn't know if Tam returned those feelings. He probably didn't.
"Tonight?" Biana asked.
"Yep, you got it. Now, quickly hail the depressed Mr. Forkle and I'll be right beside you every step should you need my assistance." Keefe said, his voice hopeful.Biana did as he said, and she went to her room and hailed her friends first. She hailed Linh, Tam, Marella, Maruca and Dex. They were all devestated by the news and cried their eyes out after they saw Sophie's condition, well, Marella and Maruca were teary, but they were less emotional since they weren't as close to Sophie. And when Biana checked on her, her tears couldn't stop. She was in such a horrible condition. No one deserved it, especially Sophie. She was so pale.
She hailed Mr. Forkle and it turned out Keefe was right. He, well, wasn't depressed but he sure was gray. He was gray and he kept wiping his eyes. And he struggled to keep his voice steady. But when he appeared at the gates of Everglen, he looked perfectly normal except for shadowy features. But other than that, his voice was steady. However it was obviously a struggle after losing Sophie, his own project.
"Hello, Miss Vacker, I hear you have news to heal Sophie." He said, a sharp edge to his tone.
"I do. I'll show you where Sophie is. You have to preform the healing tonight." Biana said,
"Heal her tonight? Miss Vacker, I may have been Sophie's creator, but that does not mean I am extremely powerful. In fact, I'm like any other elf and any other telepath and I cannot heal broken minds. If I could, do you think Miss Foster would be in the condition she is?" Mr. Forkle asked, his voice shaking slightly on the last words.
"I talked to Keefe." She explained, rushed.
"It's a bit to far fetched, Miss Vacker. First you say I can heal Miss Foster, next you say you talked to a dead person. Do you honestly think I'm naive enough to belive you?" Mr. Forkle said, though it sounded like a hiss. She felt angry that Mr. Forkle had dismissed Keefe like a "dead person". Did he really not care about Sophie's boyfriend who'd even risked his life several times to help them and saved Sophie?
"First of all, it's not "a dead person". He's Keefe, and he deserves respect! He saved your moonlark and you really don't care? And then you don't listen to me when I'm trying to explain? I'm so-"
"Okay, Miss Vacker, continue. I'm listening if it means saving Sophie." He cut her off, holding up his hand as the universal purse sign. And the way he said Sophie's first name caught her attention. Rarely did he ever call anyone by their first name.
"See, I was grieving like everyone else and then suddenly a voice, a totally random voice. It said 'Biana' and whispered in the shadows. At first I thought it was the Neverseen, but they claimed that Sophie could be healed. And then, I belived the voice and asked how. I realized that the voice speaking was Keefe after he laughed. Keefe told me that spirits could enter broken minds and normal minds in dreams, and broken minds still have broken dreams. He said he could talk to Sophie and convince her not to blame herself for Keefe's death-" Her voice cracked but she forced herself to continue, "Then he said that a strong telepath has to enter her mind and heal her, and he said that you were the one who needs to heal her. And you won't be dragged under." Biana explained.
"I can preform a healing if it's possible. I will try but I can't guarantee anything." Mr. Forkle nodded.
As they enter the room, the rest of Sophie's grief-stricken looked up as they saw Mr. Forkle and Biana enter the room. And then she saw hopeful expressions.
"I will attempt a healing on Miss Foster tonight. Biana has explained to me how to heal her." Mr. Forkle told everyone.
As Biana finished explaining her plan, she heard an ear-splitting wail. Everyone turned to Sophie, who, until now was quiet and was now wailing. The sedative must've worn off. And the wail was so sad, so lonely. Almost as if she wanted to come back. Sophie was so brave.
Tears filled everyone's eyes as the wail died down. She didn't deserve this.
"Everyone, focus. The more time we cry, the more time we waste to bring Sophie back." Mr. Forkle said softly as wiped his tears away. His gaze, though glassy, was full of determination.
And he was right.
"Tam, please lift a veil of shadowvapor."
