I walked down the hallway with the Cullen children around me. They were all joking around with Bella. I knew that. I just couldn't hear them.
I was to aware of my surroundings. Always scanning for my brothers. They were with the football team and were talking about sports. They kept glancing up at me as I passed with fear ridden eyes. I looked them both straight in the eye and started muttering things in our native tongue, Aramaic. I murmured slurs in their ears as well as threats. They seemed calm and collected and even started humming Amazing Grace with made me curse in our native tongue.
The Cullens and Bella were staring at me with confusion. "What language is that?" Bella asked.
"Aramaic," I said lazily as I grabbed an apple, "My father taught us it when we were young. Jesus Christ was said to speak it,"
Bella seemed fine with that answer. From what she probably thought, I was the oldest of three and we grew up in a very conservative catholic household. I didn't mind that.
"So where are you from?" Bella asked as we sat down.
"A little bit of everywhere. I spent my early years in Nazareth, but I like to believe that I'm from Las Vegas," I said.
"Sin city!" Emmett exclaimed. I laughed and dabbed him up from across the table.
"We're all from different parts of the US but we moved here from Alaska," Alice hummed. I tried to make Jasper feel better. I gave him a small smile and tried to conceal Bella's scent for him.
He smiled back and muttered, "That really helps Luci. I appreciate it," I gave him a slight head nod and Edward walked into the cafeteria. I smiled and ran into his arms.
"Where the fuck where you!? I didn't get to mess up your hair!" I exclaimed as he wrapped my legs around his waist. I messed up his hair and he gave me a sad smile. "Hey what's wrong?" I asked as I ran my hands through his hair.
"Today is my little girl's birthday," he murmured. Rosalie had told me about this. Edward had a kid out of wedlock who died in the pandemic of 1918. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he held me tight to him.
"You know I love you right?" I asked and he nodded. I did love him. Not in the same way my instincts told me to love Carlisle but I did. I loved him like I loved Esme and her child. Like I loved the rest of his family. Like how I was supposed to be loved.
He nuzzled his head into my shoulder. "Can we sit outside today? Just you and me?" He asked and I nodded.
"Of course Eddie," I said and got off of him.
We walked into the forest in comfortable silence. He leapt over dead trees and ducked under fallen ones. I smiled and we ended up in a beautiful meadow with all different kinds of flowers. We sat in the middle of it all and he laid his head in my lap.
"Carlisle misses you. He knows by the way. We overheard your conversation with your father," a wince released from my throat, "He's hurt."
"He shouldn't be. I'm not good for him," I murmured as I ran my fingers through his hair and down his shoulders. He sighed softly and I looked him in the eyes. "Do you ever miss your green eyes?" I asked and he looked alarmed.
"Y-yeah," he said, confused at the sudden change of subject. I nodded.
"I've been thinking about giving your coven your human eyes back. It might cause problems here though." He shrugged.
"Maybe. But we can play it off as contacts." I nodded.
"Suspicious but it might work," I murmured and he smiled.
He sighed and closed his eyes again. I gave him a small smile and suddenly dry sobs were coming out of his mouth. I was quick to wrap my arms around him. He shook in my arms.
"Hey, she's in a better place now. I'm sure my father is taking great care of her," I murmured. Maybe, just maybe, I could make a deal with him to give her a second chance at life.
Edward's eyebrows knitted together, "H-how would that work?"
I laughed, "I have to convince him first babes."
He smiled a little and nodded. I kept him close as murmured affirmations to him in his ear. He pressed his face into my chest and sobbed every now and again.

"Care to explain?" Esme said as I walked Edward inside.
"Esme he's had a long day," I murmured and Esme looked at me.
She sighed, "I'm sorry honey. Go upstairs for a second." He nodded and ran upstairs. I braced myself for Esme's wrath. She sighed again and just looked at me.
"I'm sorry. We just got into talking and we were far enough away not to hear the bell," I said and she shook her head.
"You hurt Carlisle. I don't care if you're not good for him or whatever you think. You hurt one of the nicest people in the world. It takes a lot to do that. I think it's better if you stay away from us from now on," She said.
Those words hurt. Fuck they were the same ones my father said when he banished me. I felt the tears before Esme saw them. Her face softened and I nodded. "I understand. I'm so sorry that I caused you this trouble Mrs. Cullen. I'll be on my way," Everyone turned the corner to watch me leave. Carlisle looked awful, Emmett wore a frown, and they had Edward's and Jasper's hands behind their backs. I sighed and gave them a small smile as the tears fell. "You'll have your little girl back soon Edward. You have my word," I said and left without another word.
