“How do you want me to help you?” My mother asks as she sips some coffee from the ceramic mug and I watch her, she doesn’t dress fancy like before. The glow in her face seems to be fading away slowly and I don’t like it at all. I want to see her like before.
“You’re losing your glow. What happened? You weren’t like this before.” I complain which makes her sigh, however, she gives me a faint smile in return. “I’m not modeling anymore.” She replies and I frown. “That doesn’t mean you’ll not take care of yourself.” I refuse to believe it’s the only reason behind this.
“I’m taking care of myself, baby.” She sighs and I tilt my head side to side, “Not at all, ma.” I say and she smiles at me. “You’re not with me.” She says and I feel something crack inside my heart as if someone just done stabbing it hard. “And it doesn't feel right often knowing you’re no with me anymore. It’s not like I’m telling you to shift with me, no. You’re my daughter, today or tomorrow, I have to let you go, live with your boyfriend or husband but the fact is—” She pauses and takes a deep breath.
“I never treated you right, which makes me feel so low and pathetic that taking care of myself doesn’t feel good anymore.” She says and I let out a shaky breath. Who told her that she never treated me right? She’s my biggest inspiration. She taught me unknowingly how to be strong, cold yet give the people a sweet smile, not letting them see that I’m genuinely hurt and making them confused.
“Leave that. Tell me what do you want me to do?” She asks with a small smile as she stretches her arm near me, clutching my hand gently as she begins to caress my knuckle with her thumb gently.
“Why did Jungkook get engaged to Chaerin?” I ask with a long breath as every time I think about that it makes me sick thinking her fiance fucking me while he should be with her. My mother's smile fades away, she looks away and I can see the sudden uncomfortableness in the weather.
“Don’t ask me about Chaerin. You wouldn’t like a bit of anything so you better know it from Jeon instead.” She says and I let out a frustrated sigh. I knew she would avoid this. “Then help me to escape, ma. I don’t want to be caged.” I say and my mother stares back at me with her wide eyes, shocking face and I purse my lips together.
“Tell me you’re joking.” She says and I roll my eyes. “Lili, as much as I hate Jeon for taking you away from me but I can’t deny the fact that he saved you from the toxicity around my home, baby—” She pauses and takes a deep breath. “You’re not safe alone, baby. Not at all. Jeon probably didn’t tell you but—” She takes a deep breath and I frown.
“The stalker you have been dealing with for over the past five to six years and you might have forgotten about him but he still sends you texts but fortunately Jeon is smart enough to change your phone entirely so that you don’t panic.” She says and my blood freezes inside my veins to think about my stalker. Right. I almost forgot about him while being heartbroken for Jungkook.
