Vince's heart pounded in his chest as he and Ethan finally emerged from the chaos of the store. They had braved the crowds of infected and looters, narrowly escaping with what they needed. Gripping the supplies in their arms, antibiotics, painkillers, and medical supplies Ethan had gathered, Vince couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over him as they searched the parking lot for the others.

Beside him, Ethan let out a heavy sigh, his breath coming in short gasps as he leaned against the wall. "dude, We really just did that," he said, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Vince nodded, returning Ethan's smile as he held up the supplies triumphantly, his expression of exhaustion and triumph as the two approached their group at the end of the parking lot.

But their moment of victory was short-lived as Vince's gaze fell upon Will, who stood a few feet away, his expression twisted in horror and disbelief. Following Will's gaze, Vince's stomach dropped as he saw the shopping cart they had left Tiff in, now surrounded by infected.

Everything they'd just gone through inside that store had all been for nothing...

They were too late.

A sick feeling settled in the pit of his stomach as he realized what was happening. "No," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of the distant screams.

Ethan's eyes widened in shock as he followed Vince's gaze, his expression darkening with dread. "Tiff," he breathed, his voice barely above a whisper as the pile of supplies dropped to the floor and Ethan began to walk forward.

Liv, who had been standing nearby, turned to look at the scene unfolding before them, her eyes wide with fear. "We had to distract them," she said, her voice trembling. "they were surrounding us. We had no choice..."

"Are you serious? You couldn't wait a few fucking minutes for us? why the fuck were we risking our lives in there for you to use her as bait?" Ethan yelled, charging toward Liv in a fit of anger. He knew this had to be her doing, after all, she'd been begging them to leave the girl behind from the start.

Will quickly intervened, placing himself in between the two as they continued to argue, their voices mixing with the echoes of screams coming from all around them.

But Vince wasn't listening. His mind was racing as he tried to process what was happening. Tiff, their friend, was trapped in that cart, surrounded by infected gnawing at her as she screamed in agony. She was helpless and vulnerable, and it was all their fault.

They'd left here to die...

"And you, how could you let her do this?" Ethan yelled, shoving Will in a fit of anger while trying to process what exactly had happened. Will remained silent, unsure of what to say.

"We should just get rid of this psychopath too, while we're at it." Ethan continued, pointing towards the frightened girl who was using Will as her human shield. For someone willing to give up her friend without a second thought, she suddenly didn't look so confident anymore.
