"How much further?" Hannah groaned for what felt like the millionth time that evening. After their close call back at the highway, John had been adamant about getting as far away from the chaos as possible.

Hannah couldn't agree more with the older man, still trying to process everything herself, but they'd been walking for hours, and they needed to rest, Sarah most of all as the girl had begun sweating while panting with every step they took.

"Seriously Dad, I don't think we can take anymore, Sarah's gonna pass out at any second," Riley added, grabbing onto his arm to get his attention.

John turned back to the three girls, ready to argue with them until his eyes fell upon the oldest of the three, Sarah, who looked worse than he'd thought. In that moment something clicked in his mind as Hannah watched his expression falter at the sight, his eyes darting between the girls as he thought about their next move.

"I think we're far Enough." John finally gave in, setting down his backpack against a tree, yet keeping his weapon on him, alert for any potential surprises.

"Finally, I swear my feet were starting to cramp up." Riley joked, slumping against a tree with a sigh while Hannah helped set Sarah down.

As Sarah grumbled over the slightest movement, Hannah placed the back of her hand over the girl's forehead, taking note of how quickly she was burning up.

"Jeez Sarah, you're burning up." She muttered, taking a seat beside the sick girl, and rummaging through John's backpack for anything that could help.

"Here have some water." Riley offered, handing a plastic bottle from her own backpack to the sick girl. John continued to pace around their small campsite, glancing over at them every few seconds. His finger remained on the trigger, the adrenaline in his veins keeping him on high alert as he watched them closely.

Night had fallen fairly quickly as Riley began starting a small fire. She'd spent many weekends out in the woods with her father before the outbreak, learning skills that seemed to be coming in handy after all.

Hannah on the other hand, was clueless with all of it, having never been interested in the outdoors to begin with. She watched Riley start the fire with ease, mentally cursing at herself for not joining Riley on her camping trips when she offered.

Maybe, if she had, she wouldn't be so useless to the group...

Sarah shivered beside her as Hannah looked around for anything to wrap around the girl. However, everything they had was back in the truck on the highway filled with infected people.

"Let's move closer to the fire, it'll warm you up," Hannah suggested, yet Sarah refused to move, the pain in her muscles being too much for her to handle. John glanced back at the two, muttering under his breath as he took a seat beside Riley who was rummaging through the backpacks for anything to eat.
