Frantically, the group searched through the parking lot for a vehicle to help them escape the horde of infected, panic surged through their veins like wildfire. The infected, their bloodshot eyes filled with hunger and madness, crowded around the store area, alerted by the echo of a gunshot and the screams of those still inside, fighting over what little supplies were left.
The parking lot was a scene of utter chaos and devastation, a battleground where desperation clashed with the horrors of the infected. Abandoned cars littered the asphalt expanse, their windows shattered and doors hanging open like gaping maws, offering a glimpse into the horrors inside.
Locked cars stood sentinel-like, their owners long gone or trapped inside, their fate uncertain. The air was thick with the stench of decay and fear, mingling with the acrid scent of burning rubber and gasoline.
The store looked like a fortress under siege, its windows shattered and doors torn from their hinges. People ran in and out of the building, their faces twisted in terror as they fought to escape the clutches of the infected.
But the true horror lay in the cars that had become the feeding grounds for the infected. Bodies lay strewn across the pavement, their flesh torn and mangled, their lifeless eyes staring up at the sky.
Inside those cars, the infected roamed like feral beasts, their bloodshot eyes filled with hunger and madness as they tore into flesh, limbs falling in every direction. Blood staining seats and floors, spilling out into the dark pavement.
"We need to find a car, now!" Ethan shouted over the chaos, his voice barely audible over the screams of those surrounding them.
They spotted a car nearby, its doors unlocked, and rushed towards it, desperate to escape the impending danger. But before they could reach it, the owner appeared, brandishing a shotgun and blocking their path.
"I don't fucking think so" the deranged man exclaimed, loading his gun as he glared at the group menacingly.
"We don't want any trouble, just a ride-" Will began, raising his hands cautiously as he tried to reason with the man to no avail. As the group struggled to reason with the man, Vince kept watch around them, the infected turning their attention to the slight commotion they were causing.
One of the infected, who'd been buried deep into the stomach of its victim, suddenly looked up, eyes meeting Vince's as it stood up, chewed flesh falling out of its mouth as it began to make its way over. Vince's hands shook as he raised the gun he had taken from the store, his finger hovering over the trigger. But he couldn't bring himself to pull it, his mind clouded with panic and indecision.
"What the hell are you waiting for? shoot it already" Liv yelled from behind the boy, her voice strained with desperation. But Vince hesitated, his grip on the gun slipping as he struggled to control his shaking hands.
