Theo's POV:

I opened my eyes feeling slightly groggy but better than earlier. My mouth felt like cotton because it was so dry. I looked around the room, the bathroom door was closed, so I assumed Mason was in there, everything else looked normal but it was clear he hadn't been on his side of the bed. I pushed myself up slowly into a sitting position and was rubbing my eyes when the bathroom door opened.

"Hey, you're awake."

I moved my hands and looked at him. He had a towel around his waist and was drying his hair with another smaller towel. I nodded. "Yeah. Do we have any water?"

"Yeah." He walked over to the mini fridge and pulled one out before walking over to me and handing it to me. "Here, Baby. We can go get you some food in a minute."

"Okay. Thanks."

"How are you feeling?" He cocked his head.

I swallowed down some water and shrugged. "My hand stings but I feel better. I didn't mean to do that."

"It's okay. Everything's good. You'll have to use the basement gym for two weeks while repairs are made but otherwise no harm. Your Dad said your hand is superficial and should be healed by morning." He pushed my chin up. "I promise you it's okay."

"Okay."

He leaned down and pressed his lips softly against mine. "I love you."

"I love you, too. Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm okay. I had a conversation with my Mom. Got some sleep. I'm gonna get dressed, want me to grab you some sweats?"

"Yeah. I'm gonna go to the bathroom."

"Okay."

I climbed off the bed and headed for the bathroom as he stepped into the closet. I used the toilet and washed my hand. Mason met me outside the bathroom holding gray sweatpants and a pair of running shoes for me. I quickly slipped into the pants and took the socks and shoes.

"Please tell me I don't need to take another sedative with lunch? I finally feel... not clouded."

I looked up at him as I took a seat to slip on my shoes and socks.

"No. You can't have another sedative until around 9. Tara even said it's okay to push until tomorrow morning."

"Okay."

I jumped as our door was flung open. Jackson came through breathing hard.

"I couldn't get through your mindlink... He's here."

"Shit." I quickly stood up.

"He's not attacking. He wants to issue a challenge. To Mason."

"What?" Mason asked.

"Absolutely not." I growled.

"Why not? I can fight."

"Because you're diabetic." I snapped.

"We don't have time for this. As Alpha it's your say but if you deny the challenge against your mate you have to take his place." Jackson said.

"Good."

"Jesus." Mason whispered to himself.

I quickly left the bedroom and headed for the challenge arena. The people that couldn't protect themselves would already be in the bunker. So would Paisley, Apollo, Laelynn and my kids. I stepped into the arena. Jackson and Mason flanking me. Tucker smirked as he saw me.
