"I'm not lookin' for somebody
With some superhuman gifts
[...]
Just something I can turn to
Somebody I can kiss"
Something Just Like This - The Chainsmokers, Coldplay
Her brain was melting.
That was the only plausible explanation to the pain she was feeling. A thousand needles in her head, at the same time, nipping her synapsis.
The pain she was feeling was so intense that Leah had lost the sense of time. How long had she been experiencing this? Hours or days?
She had no idea if she had been still screaming or crying, she could not feel anything expect the excruciating agony.
Then, just as quickly as it had begun, it was over.
Her head was still throbbing, but Leah started to feel.
She could feel the floor where she was laying, she could hear agitated voices and she sensed the scent of blood. Hers.
Leah opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was the table or, to be more precise, what was left of it.
The table had been shattered into pieces, the wood completely splintered, as if it had been seized and torn apart until it was reduced to two large, dilapidated halves. The chairs all lay scattered on the floor, their state a consequence of the shattered table.
Leah touched her face, her lips, where she could feel something wet one her skin. Looking at her hand she saw blood, coming from her nose.
Her head was still ringing from the pain, but she focused her gaze in front of her, where the vampires were arguing.
Her eyes found Felix first, he was being held by Alec and another vampire Leah didn't know.
Confused, Leah looked around her to understand why they were blocking him, but then she noticed Felix's gaze locked on Jane.
They were restraining him to prevent him from attacking Jane.
What was happening?
A cold hand touched Leah's shoulder and she sprang away, she had not the strength to shift at that moment, but she would defend herself to the bitter end if necessary.
Dark red eyes entered her vision, a kind smile on a gentle face.
Santiago.
He was offering her a white cloth napkin. "For the blood," he said.
Leah's grabbed it and scrubbed her face, trying to remove as much as possible.
In that moment, Aro's voice resonate in the room, covering the others. "Felix, please, you will hurt yourself."
Leah, not understanding the reason of those words, craned her neck to have a better visual. She was still sitting on the floor.
"Jane is very powerful, but Felix is the strongest among us," Santiago said to her, his voice barely a whisper.
Leah, even more confused, rose from the floor and searched Felix's face with her gaze. His harmonious features were distorted by an expression of rage, his growl terrifying. Leah observed the two vampires holding him back, Alec and another vampire who was about the same built as Jane's twin. How were they managing to keep him still? He had to be stronger than them.
