"Though the pressure's hard to take
It's the only way I can escape
It seems a heavy choice to make

Felix spent the next two days constantly on the phone. He mostly spoke Italian and he was always kind of... angry. Leah spent her time watching TV, reading some books he had in the house and calling her mom and her brother.
She talked to him, not much, but enough to notice that he was... well, madder than usual. She had the suspect that staying with her, in that house, was causing him problems. Probably with the Volturi.
She tried, once, to tell him that she was going out for a little walk around town, but he stopped her.
"You can't go out alone, I already told you that you're not safe."
They had a discussion, she went out anyway and he followed her, so she ended to walk for ten minutes before she decided that it was enough. She needed some time alone, he was like a dark cloud that spoiled her mood... which wasn't great to begin with.
On the morning of the fourth day in that house, Leah was reading in her bedroom when she heard someone knocking on the door. Felix, who was speaking on the phone in his room, stopped talking and reached the door in a fraction of a second.
"Stay in your room."
Not a chance, Leah thought.
She left the room and heard Felix sighed.
He looked at her before opening the door.
A vampire, with dark skin, short black hair and red eyes was looking at them.
"Santiago," Felix greeted him.
§
Santiago was a big vampire, almost big as Felix. Leah didn't notice right away his body size, probably because she was now used to having Felix nearby.
The new vampire was inside the house, near the couch in the living room, looking to both of Leah and Felix.
She was kind of tired to be look like some kind of failed experiment.
"I told you I was going to be at the office tomorrow," Felix said to him.
What office?
"I know, but you were supposed to show up yesterday and the day before, so I tried to see if you were in your house, maybe having company," Santiago arched an eyebrow, clearly not expecting that kind of company.
"When I didn't find you there, I remembered you have a house here," he continued.
Felix crossed his arms over his chest. "I need you to go."
"Oh, don't be rude, you should introduce me to your friend."
Felix growled. "Not a fucking chance."
Santiago held his hands up. "All right, big guy, I was just trying to be polite," he said, then he turned to Leah and calmly added: "I'm Santiago, a... friend of Felix. May I assume that you're one of the shape-shifters we encountered about a month ago?"
Oh, God, had it really been a month already?
"Don't talk to her. Talk to me. What do you want?"
Santiago shrugged. "Nothing, really. I was just worried, it's not like you to disappear for days."
