"You drew stars around my scars

But now I'm bleedin'"

cardigan - Taylor Swift

The last time she had been to the Cullens' house was months ago.

That night, almost all the vampires of the family were there, though not in the same room as Leah and Jacob.

Leah could hear the voices of Alice and Jasper upstairs, while she had seen Esme in the kitchen. Bella and Renesmee were not present, surely to avoid their visitor from trying to finish what the Volturi had not succeeded in doing.

In the living room of the Cullen house, besides Leah and Jacob, there were Carlisle, Edward, Emmett, and Rosalie.

The visitor was a vampire who must have been turned not long ago, the colour of his eyes was still a particularly vivid red.

Emmett and Edward were ready, on either side of him, in case he tried to escape, but the newcomer did not seem particularly inclined to run away. He looked around, scared, even though Carlisle was speaking to him in a low voice, with a reassuring tone.

At one point, the older vampire stepped away from him and said in a firm tone: "Isaac, repeat to them what you told us."

The vampire fixed his frightened gaze on Leah and Jacob and cleared his throat, "Uhm, I... My... I'm not here to hurt anyone, I swear. They just asked me to come here and check that she..." he pointed his finger weakly at Leah, "... was here. That's all."

At those words, Leah's body stiffened. Someone had decided to send a newly created vampire to spy on her. It was dangerous to send out a young vampire like that, he could have caused a massacre before he could be stopped.

"You have to report this to someone, though," Edward interjected.

"Y-Yes," Isaac said, "I just need to send a message to a number, I don't know whose."

Carlisle crossed his arms over his chest, "Can you tell us anything about who gave you her picture?"

The newcomer sighed, "Look... I'm not here to hurt anyone."

"No, you're here because it's convenient for you and you can take advantage of the situation," Edward intervened.

Leah frowned. What did he mean by what he had just said?

Isaac sighed, "Yes, it's true," he met Leah's gaze at those words, "But I don't want to hurt anyone. I just want to join the Volturi and-"

"I don't understand what that has to do with you being here," Jacob interrupted him.

Isaac slowly reached into his jacket and pulled out a letter, which he handed to Carlisle, who took it and whispered softly, "The Volturi seal."

Edward leaned towards his father and read, with an impassive expression, what was written on the paper.

After a moment, Carlisle passed the paper to Jacob, who approached Leah so they could read it together.

Your request has been accepted with reserve. It is necessary to know if the subject in the photo is still near La Push. Text to this number your answer.

"Where did you find it?" Leah asked him, in a firm tone.

"My house, in Portland. I don't know who broke in, I didn't recognize the scent. I only know that it's been a week since I received it."
