"Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me"

The Alchemy - Taylor Swift

Even Emily couldn't stop Sam.

Jacob, to be honest, didn't even try.

Leah tried to block him before he reached Felix, but she was too far away to get to him in time.

Sam, his body trembling, his face contorted with rage, moved so close to Felix that their chests touched.

Sam's chest heaved up and down while Felix's remained still. The look he gave Sam was completely devoid of any emotions.

Leah knew that mask well. Felix had no intention of showing them what he was feeling in that moment.

"Sam..." Leah started.

"Don't," Sam interrupted her, "Don't even try to defend him."

"He helped us," Leah said anyway, her arms crossed over her chest. Emily had positioned herself beside her and was silently watching the scene.

"I don't care," Sam said. "That vampire came here for you because of him. And don't tell me I have to remind you how he manipulated you..."

"I know," Leah replied, unable to meet Felix's gaze. "I know exactly what he did. But he also killed Demetri."

"He has to leave," Jacob interjected. "As helpful as he's been, it's time for him to get out of the reservation. Besides, I think we should have this conversation outside."

Felix watched the exchange silently. He seemed almost undisturbed by what was happening around him.

But Leah knew him well and she recognized his clenched jaw and rigid shoulders as a sign that he was about to snap.

Emily grabbed Sam's hand and pulled him outside, into Leah's backyard. Jacob, Leah, and Felix followed. It was still dark and the neighbours didn't live close enough to hear their exchange, if tones escalated.

"He's a Volturi. He shouldn't leave here alive," Sam stated firmly, stepping out into the night.

At those words, Leah shook her head. "Sam, you don't know what you're saying..."

Sam looked at her and for the first time, Leah saw something in his eyes she'd never seen before: disgust.

"Leah, it seems pretty clear to everyone that you're incapable of making rational decisions," Sam spat out the words with hatred.

"Sam -", Emily interjected.

Leah frowned, "What is wrong with you?"

"With me?" Sam asked her, his voice rising. "You're the one who decided to abandon your pack to become the Volturi's slut, not me."

Leah couldn't process Sam's words immediately. She couldn't believe him.

"Sam, what the hell...?" Jacob started, his tone shocked.

"Oh my God, Sam, why would you say something like that?" Emily's tone was filled with dismay.

Leah tried to speak, but Felix interrupted the silence he had maintained until that moment.

"Shut up," he said to Sam, his jaw clenched, his gaze unwavering.

Sam scoffed, "Excuse me?"

"Shut up," Felix repeated, this time pushing Sam back, a hand on his chest, "Or I kill you."
