"And up until now I had sworn to myself
That I'm content with loneliness
Because none of it was ever worth the risk"The Only Exception - Paramore
Leah's blood was raging through her veins. She should feel embarrassed by the fact that Demetri heard what she had said to Felix, but the wolf inside her was thinking just one thing: enemy.
The figure of Demetri emerged from a patch of trees that was located to their right.
Leah shifted without even thinking about it. The growled she made was filled with rage.
She wanted to kill him.
"She's feisty," Demetri said, smiling at Felix.
Felix did not talk. He was looking at the other vampire, his eyes were fixated on his figure, studying his moves.
When Demetri tried to get closer, Leah snarled louder. If he tried to attack them, she was going to rip his head off.
"What do you want?" Felix words were calm.
"Me? Nothing. Actually, I would like to talk with your friend, but she shifted," he tilted his head, to look at her. "Really, I just want to have a talk with you."
The last time he had attacked her. He had tried to kill her and he didn't pretend otherwise. Now he wanted to talk?
Was he insane?
"What do you have to say to her?" Felix asked.
The heavy rain had stopped, it was drizzling. Leah could feel Demetri's scent better now.
"It's a private conversation," Demetri answered and Leah, for a brief moment, could swear he was telling the truth.
Felix crossed his arms on the chest. "Does Aro know that you're back?"
"He's going to be my next stop," he said that words like it was not really important, his entire focus was on Leah.
"Go away, Demetri. You're not authorized to any mission right now and Leah is not your concern."
Demetri growl was low, but Leah had heard it well. He was growling to Felix.
"I decide what is my concern and right now I need to talk to your friend," he said, and then he approached Leah so quickly that she barely had time to see Demetri's figure disappear from where he was, before hearing a noise she had only heard for the first time a few months earlier.
Two vampires fighting.
Demetri was fast, so fast, that he landed a punch on the side of Felix's chest before he could lock him between his arms.
But Felix was stronger and, after a mere second, he had his left hand on Demetri's neck and the right one on his shoulder, squeezing.
Felix emitted a growl that Leah never heard before, deep and scary.
"You touch her and I'll end you," he said to Demetri.
Even though Demetri was pinned by Felix's grip, he let out a mocking laugh and looked Felix in the eye. "Look what you've become. You'd rather defend a shape-shifter than honour the request of your own brother."
"We are not brothers."
"Not anymore."
Leah was hearing them talking but she wasn't understanding. She could only think about Felix and the danger he was facing. She never felt so agitated and scared in her life, the panic was like a loud music in her mind.
