"I should not be left to my own devices
They come with prices and vices
I end up in crisis (tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming"Anti-Hero - Taylor Swift
She was running.
The cold wind coming from the ocean was like a caress on her fur, the ground under her paws was hard and uneven.
She was in her element.
The blood in her veins ran fast, the accelerated heartbeat echoed in her ears.
She could barely hear the noise of the animals she crossed paths with, but the sound of the seagulls was loud every time she approached the coast.
She missed this. She missed the feeling of running in a place she knew so well. She missed the sound of the waves, the smell of the foliage, the colour of the sky, at night, dotted with stars that seemed so close and so far away at the same time.
She missed her home.
Suddenly, a sound caught her attention... an animal's growl.
She headed towards the sound and reached a cove on the beach, where she saw two figures, one in front of the other.
The vision changed quickly and Leah saw that the two figures now facing each other were that of her brother Seth, in wolf form, and Felix.
They stared at each other, ready to attack. The sound she had heard was Seth's deep growl.
She tried to run towards them - to stop them, but they kept getting further and further away.
She tried to shout, but she had no voice. Leah was now in human form, silently crying as she watched the two of them ready to attack.
Seth lunged forward, his jaws open wide, closing around Felix's shoulder. The vampire grabbed the wolf by a hind leg and started to pull.
Leah clearly heard the sound of a limb being torn off and her brother's desperate scream.
"Leah!"
She heard Felix voice, but she didn't understand how. He w as killing her brother, why was he calling her?
"Leah!"
Her brother and Felix were not there anymore. She could only see the beach and the ocean, but her vision was...blurred. Out of focus. What was happening?
"Leah, wake up!"
Leah opened her eyes. She was drenched in sweat, the t-shirt she used as pyjamas was glued to her skin.
Her heartbeat was deafening, her breath short and agitated.
Just a dream.
Just a fucking terrifying dream.
Felix's face was in front of her. He had a hand on her shoulder and his touch was almost delicate. In that moment, however, Leah was too agitated, as much as the wolf inside of her.
He was not her imprinting, he was the enemy. He tried to kill her brother.
She jerked away from his touch and stood up. She walked unsteadily to the side of the room where the desk was. Leah's body was shaking so hard that her teeth were chattering.
