Donatella:I gather my things, tucking them neatly into my bag, sans my water bottle and phone, before hoisting it over my shoulder and making my way through the decedent theatre, waving to people as I go and thanking them when they compliment my performance.
Once I get to the front desk, Ida lifts her head. "I hear you've been outshining everyone." She comments.
"What? No. Everyone is amazing. Who said that?"
"Your aunt."
"Of course." I nod. "Well, like I said, everyone is doing great."
"But you're the star."
I feel my cheeks heat. "Clara is the star. I'm just the ballerina portraying her."
"And you're modest." She signs something with her pen, the swipe of the led sharp against the smooth paper. "I'm glad that conceited imp hasn't rubbed off on you."
"Ida." I scold. "You don't even know him."
"I know enough."
"And what is it that you know?"
She shakes her head. "I know he threatened to have me fired."
"A misunderstanding."
"Every time he comes here to pick you up, he throws insults at me."
"And who starts it?" I tilt my head.
"Humph." She huffs and grabs a new document. "He deserves it. All that arrogance and that-"
"Ida."
"I'm just saying."
"And I'm saying that you should give him the benefit of the doubt. He's sweet. And he's kind. And-" And I love him.
"We'll see." She focuses on her work and I take a deep breath, turning around and making my way to my waiting car.
Once I'm back in my room, seconds after passing the threshold, he texts me.
Darius
You can start getting ready now.I'll be there in two hours.
Me
Okay :)Darius
That enough time for you?I start to type yes but then think it over. I need to shower and then I'll have to...
Darius
That was a joke.Right. Of course it was.
Me
Yes. Sorry. I'll be ready.Darius
I'll be waiting.Me
<3I hurry having a shower and then doing all of my routines, leaving me with an hour left.
Thankfully, I've already planned my outfit with Daci after we'd chosen hers. It's simple and cute. A black skirt with a white off the shoulder top and black heeled boots. I add some jewellery and double check my makeup before spraying myself with perfume and heading for the door to my bedroom, only to take a second look outside and hurriedly pick up a pink hoodie, just in case.
I'm downstairs, exactly five minutes after the time he'd said and I'm greeted by his smug expression as he leans back against the far wall of the foyer.
"You don't know how hard that was." I argue, practically out of breath from rushing.
"Two hours."
