Donatella:"We've been once. But it was when Darius was very little." Molly answers my mother's question of whether or not they've ever visited Dubai.
It's been a week since baba came home and our parents are finally having dinner together. Well, correction, all of our parents are having dinner together. As in, every one of our parents. Meaning there are like eighteen of them. Not including all of us, who are segregated on the other side of the large room.
Well, I say dinner. It's more like a get together.
The other parents apparently meet once a month and since I'm now a part of their group, mine were invited. Jeremy's, too. His father is actually in the midst of a deal with Althea's parents, unbeknownst to either of them until only a few days ago.
Two more of the moms have now joined my and Darius' and they're gushing about the view from the Burj Khalifa.
"Can we get out of here?" Angel asks the group. "This is fucking boring."
"What would you rather be doing?" Thea raises her brows.
"Wouldn't you like to know." He counters.
"If you two are going to be like that, then you don't have to ask. You will not be missed."
"Do you always have to be such an ass?" Thea glares at Lucas.
"Do you always have to be such a pain in it?"
"I'll show you pain-" She moves to stand but Angel pulls her back down.
"Has this emotional violence turned physically violent, now?" Dare asks.
"Don't let them start." Angel warns. "Unless you want this night to end in a fucking bloodbath."
Oakley clears his throat.
"No." The rest of us rebuff.
He slumps back in his seat.
"Seriously though." Angel says. "Let's get out of here. Just to like the pool or something. It's getting fucking claustraphobic in here."
"I agree." Madden is the first to stand.
I can't help but notice the way that Darius looks at him. The knowing look in his eyes that tells me that he knows his friend isn't happy about something. Even if he doesn't seem that way.
He's the first to turn and we all follow after him, until we reach the doors to Lucas' mansion's outdoor pool, the hot European air hitting our faces when they open.
Oh, did I mention that we're at one of Lucas's family homes? In Italy? The get together is actually for two weeks. Which means that all twenty seven of us are living in this house together for a fortnight.
Night one has been smooth so far but with this many people, who knows what kind of chaos could unfold. And that's speaking for them, not us. I think that most of them turn back time when they're together, forgetting that we're the teenagers.
It is definitely easier to breathe out here, though. The openness and glowing lights illuminating the water make for beautiful scenery.
"Much better." Angel sighs, unbuttoning his white shirt and half lying across a lounge chair.
He guides Thea onto his lap and she runs a hand down his bare chest through the open garment, resting her head onto his shoulder.
Madelaina occupies the one opposite them on the other side of the pool. Lucas sits on the edge of it, pulling her legs over his lap.
