"Alright, class dismissed!" The teacher closed his book and took off his glasses as his classroom erupted in cheers and conversations from the students. Taehyung reached into his backpack and grabbed his earphones before placing them in his ears and pressing play to his music. He had an online playlist with his favorite 70's, 80's and 90's rock music which he played on repeat every hour of everyday. As Scorpion's Always somewhere started playing, the boy made his way around the halls and towards his history class.
Taehyung sat down at his desk and waited for the rest of the class to fill up. A tall ravenette came to sit down next to him and started talking to him even though he couldn't hear a word of what he was saying.
"Sorry, what?" The brunette took out both of his earphones and tucked them away in his bag.
"Why are you always wearing earphones? I look like an idiot talking to myself now"
"Sorry, Jungkook. What were you saying?" Taehyung smiled and turned to face his classmate.
"I was asking you how did your math class go?"
"Oh, it was fine, I finished everything early. How about you, science?"
"Fine, I still don't understand anything about biology but at least the teacher's life is fun. If there was a test about that I'm sure I'd ace it" The boys chuckled but kept quiet once the teacher walked in.
Jungkook and Taehyung listened to the teacher for the first hour and then proceeded to work on the exercises together as always for the remaining hour. Jeon Jungkook was one of the most popular boys in school, he had the nice car, the nice face and the money, whereas Taehyung was just a regular kid who got along with almost everyone. The two had been partners in science lab last year, it was actually how they had met but their shared love for music had kept them in touch ever since. This year however, they only shared one class, history and had decided to pair up as desk mates.
When the bell rang, Jungkook waved goodbye to his friend and left as Taehyung buried his earphones in his ears once more. The boy exited the classroom and watched Jungkook greet half of the students on his way, every boy would high five him and every girl would wave. On his part, Taehyung also greeted most of them but in quieter way and with a much less charming smile.
The brunette entered the cafeteria and was joined by his closest friend here at the school, Min Yoongi. The boy was his age and shared almost every class with him. The two had known each other since elementary school and even though they wouldn't spend much time together outside of school, they seemed to always be seen together while inside the building.
"Oh, hey"
"Sup, Tae"
"So, I just spoke with Jungkook, turns out the school asked him to play something for the school talent show whatever next month"
"Figures, he's Golden Boy Jeon Jungkook"
"Don't call him that, it sounds so silly" Taehyung chuckled and walked up the line. Truth was, Jungkook was a very gifted student as well as gifted singer. Yoongi was very fond of music and had already told Taehyung various times that he wanted to make a song with the younger, but his shy personality had prevented him from going up to him and asking him to work on a piece together.
"So, what are you doing after school?" Yoongi asked as he started eating.
"I'm pretty sure I'm going to lay on my bed and rewatch a series I've already seen three times"
"Sounds like a plan"
"How about you?"
"Practicing, maybe I'll keep working on my song"
"And you still haven't asked Jungkook to work on one with you?" Taehyung watched as his friend shook his head while taking a sip of water. "I don't see why not, Jungkook is very nice. There's no way he'd say no"
"He's not my friend, I barely speak to the guy"
"He's everybody's friend" The brunette chuckled and looked over to where Jungkook was sitting with his usual group of friends. When the younger locked eyes on Taehyung, he smiled and looked away once the brunette had returned his smile.
The bell rang as Taehyung gathered his belongings and gently placed them back in his bag. He had just finished his last class of the day and was now exiting the class and making his way to his locker to leave some of his books and notebooks. He had his earplugs on once again and was softly humming to yet another Scorpions song. His fingers grazed the cold surface of the lock as he opened his locker and placed the books.
A tap on his shoulder made him jump, he took one of his earphones and turned around.
"Jungkook!"
"Hey there, sorry if I scared you"
"It's fine. Did you have something you wanted to tell me?"
"I just wanted to bid you goodbye" The ravenette smiled his bunny smile which always made everyone else smile as well.
"Goodbye, Jungkook"
"See you tomorrow" The younger waved goodbye and left.
It had always amazed Taehyung how nice the boy was. He would take his time to say goodbye, he would always greet him and ask how his day was going and never once did had he seen him in a bad mood. The boy was pure joy and happiness all the time.
Taehyung finished placing everything inside the metal box and put his earphone back in his ear. He switched the song to a Bon Jovi power ballad and walked out of the institution. On his way to his car, he saw Jungkook talking with some students next to his black Mercedes AMG GT. The brunette looked at him laugh and joke with the girls and boys and couldn't help but smile as well before getting into his white Toyota Yaris and driving home.
On his way home, the boy drove past a very small music shop where they'd sell cd and other old stuff for 80's and 90's fan like Taehyung. He had been going there for a long time, he absolutely adored the theme of the store as well as the owner with whom he got along well. The store also sold guitars and the brunette would sometimes try one out or jam with the elder man who worked there. Just as he drove by, he saw what appeared to be Jungkook's Black Mercedes parked in front.
He stopped for a moment and saw the boy standing outside the store, talking with the owner. Seeing those two talking intrigued Taehyung who had never seen Jungkook anywhere near this neighborhood and even less in such a small store. Even though the brunette was dying to stop and go find out more, he decided to drive away and head home. Maybe Jungkook would explain all of this tomorrow.
