Chapter 1- A New Life AwaitsFₗₐₛₕbₐcₖ: 2023, April 07 9:33 AM
OMNISCIENT POV:
Devyn Tyler's sat in math class bored out of his mind. His math teacher, Mr. Constantine, was in his mid 40s and as such was very monotone and unenthusiastic about his job.
"... Now imagine you have a jar filled with marbles. If you take out 3 marbles at a time and there are 24 marbles in total, how many times can you take out 3 marbles until there are none left in the jar? Think about it like dividing the total number of marbles by the number you're taking out each time," Mr. Constantine said as he drew on the smart board to better explain the problem. Sophomore math was in no way whatsoever hard for Devyn, it was just so god damn boring.
Mr. Constantine cleared his throat before continuing, "So, uh, to find out how many times we can take out 3 marbles from a jar containing 24 marbles, we need to divide the total number of marbles by the number we're taking out each time."
He sounds like a robot.
Devyn said... Quietly in his head as he had social anxiety.
"Bro, Mr. Constantine Lowkey sounds like a chat bot or sumn," said Javier, a black kid from the hoods of Detroit. Everyone in the class erupted in laughter after he said this- even Mr. Constantine let out a few chuckles. "All right, all right now settle down class."
Devyn was used to this. usually he would think of a pretty good joke and Javier or some other popular kid would tell the exact same joke just rephrased a little. Devyn didn't really mind because he didn't say anything in the first place. and besides its not like anyone in here is a mind reader.
Right?...
*ringgggg*
"Ok guys remember to work on pages 5 and 6 of the work book, even questions only!" Mr Constantine reminded everyone as they started to pack up and move onto their next class. Devyn was quick to pack up his things as it was now his favorite time of the day: English with his best friend Zuriana. As expected he walked out his class only to be met with his best friend. The light chocolate girl stood at the door with her books in hand and a smile on her face.
"Devyn, you'll never believe what josh caught Jake and Aubrey Doing behind the school." She said with a smile on her face. Devyn couldn't help but smile too at her antics as seeing Zuri made his day.
"Ugh, I knew they were freaky as hell." Devyn stated with a small laugh. Zuri disclosed all the details as they walked to English. Once they reached the familiar classroom they sat in their seats in the back, unpacking a few pencils and their binder for this class.

It was now the end of the day and Devyn and Zuri made their way to their bus. "You coming over today?" Zuri asked moving a braid from out her face. "Yeah, I'll text my mom." He answered as he pulled his phone from his pocket. They walked on the bus and sat in their usual seat- once again in the back. "She said yeah." Devyn said as the bus began to move, gaining a head nod from Zuri. The ride to Zuris house was quiet as neither of them had anything to say at the moment.
