The next day, anticipation surged within me as I prepared to leave for work. It had been almost two and a half weeks since I saw Arika, and the void left by her absence lingered. I stepped into the office in hope of seeing her today. While on the way to my cabin many of my employees greeted me which I returned with a slight smile but the whole time my eyes were searching for Arika but I couldn’t find her.

Upon reaching my cabin, I settled into my chair, thinking on how to meet with Arika and spend some time with her. Before I could come up with a plan, my PA, Nikhil, graced me with his presence.

"Good morning, sir. Here is your schedule for the day," Nikhil greeted as he handed me the iPad with my day's schedule.

"Good Morning Nikhil," I replied, taking the iPad and quickly scanning through my plans for today.

I have a meeting with my employees in ten minutes regarding a new project in which I'll be guiding them. After lunch, I have some free time, and then I have to attend a college fest as they have invited me as their guest, where I have to give some sort of speech addressing the students.

At first, I denied because being in the middle of so many people irritates me, especially when their whole attention is on me. I have been ignoring their invitation for many days in the name of work, but the trustee of this college is my dad’s best friend. After not getting a positive response from me, he asked my dad if I could attend their college fest, and here I am, going to attend the fest today.

'I don’t want to go,' I whined in my head because obviously, I cannot do that in front of my assistant.

"Sir, should I prepare the speech for your address at the fest?" Nikhil's question interrupted my thoughts.

"No need to prepare the speech," I replied, but Nikhil continued before I could say more.

"Are you not going to attend the fest?" The horror in his voice and expression was unmistakable.

"Do you want me dead, Nikhil?" I retorted, causing him to shake his head vigorously. "My dad will have my head as tonight’s dinner if I don’t attend the fest. And there's no need to prepare any speech; I know what I'll be saying there," I added with a sigh. As much as I wanted to inquire about Arika from Nikhil, I resisted the urge, knowing it wouldn't reflect well on me. So, I pushed that idea aside for the moment.

"Okay, sir, it’s time for the meeting. Shall we go?" Nikhil asked, glancing at his watch.

"Yes, let’s go," I agreed, rising from my seat. Nikhil and I proceeded to the conference room, where a team of my employees awaited us.
