The gentle rays of the sun filtered through the curtains, coaxing me awake, yet I lingered in the embrace of sleep, feeling the weight of yesterday's closeness with Shivansh still vivid in my mind. It was very unusual for me to stay in bed this late, a consequence of the restless night spent replaying our shared moment in his office.
As I tossed and turned, trying to shake off the memories of our closeness, I couldn't help but recall the way my heart raced, the inexplicable warmth and safety I felt being near him—it was a whirlwind of emotions. The spark, the magnetic pull between us, it all felt so real, so palpable.
Oddly, I didn't feel uncomfortable with our closeness at that time; instead, I felt a sense of comfort and security, as if whatever was happening wasn't wrong. But now, as I think about it again, it seems so wrong, and I want to banish all thoughts of it from my mind, but they keep replaying like a movie scene on loop. This wasn't the first time I experienced such feelings. The first time was during Vedika's birthday celebration when we danced together. Back then, I brushed it off as a fleeting moment, a product of the joy of celebration.
I stared at the ceiling, lost in contemplation, while the chirping and dancing of birds outside my balcony offered a stark contrast to the storm of emotions raging within. The world seemed serene, oblivious to the storm inside me. The unlocking of the room's door broke my chain of thoughts. Dhruvika and Anisha walked inside, while I sat up and ran figures in my tangled hairs to clear the knots created in it overnight.
"Aru, are you okay? You never wake up late on working days. What happened today?" Dhruvika settled beside me on the bed, while Anisha sat opposite us.
"Let me check for a fever," Anisha leaned in and put the back of her hand on my forehead.
"Relax, both of you. I'm perfectly fine. Can't I wake up a bit late just one day?" I gently removed Anisha's hand.
"Yes, you can, but we're asking because since you returned from the office, you've seemed a bit zoned out, like you were lost in deep thoughts. And even while sleeping, you were tossing and turning a lot. That's why I asked if you have a fever," Anisha explained.
"Is something bothering you?" Dhruvika asked.
"Or rather, someone?" Anisha chimed in, squinting mischievously at me.
"What... What do you mean by so...someone?" I asked, already knowing where this conversation is heading towards.
"Who else but your boss? Daddy Shivansh Arora," Anisha said, and they both burst into laughter, exchanging a high-five, while my cheeks heated up at the mention of Shivansh's name.
