The weight of my body felt like it was sinking into the depths of something cold and unrelenting, as if I were trapped beneath a wave I couldn’t escape. My limbs felt heavy, each movement dragging as though the world itself was pressing down on me.

But even through the haze, I kept hearing her voice, sharp and cutting, void of any emotion. Her words echoed in my mind, each one like a dagger, but it wasn’t just the words—it was how she said them.

So flat. So distant.

There wasn’t a trace of the warmth I had always felt in her tone, just an empty edge that made my chest tighten.

And her eyes…Those same mahogany eyes I had once seen light up were now filled with fear, not of the world but of me. Her gaze pierced right through me, and it broke something deep inside. I had poured my heart out to her, laid everything bare, and in return, she looked at me as if I was someone else entirely.

Someone dangerous.

And then... she walked away without looking back at me once.

"Arika, please don’t go... Arika, please stop…" My voice broke as I gasped for air, jerking upright. Sweat drenched my body, my heart hammering against my ribs like it was trying to escape. My chest rose and fell rapidly as I tried to breathe, eyes wide, staring blankly ahead.

Everything felt like a blur—like the room itself was spinning. The nightmare clung to me, lingering in the air, refusing to leave. My breaths were shallow, uneven, tears pouring down, as I wiped my face, trying to shake off the remnants of the dream, but her voice, her face, it was all still there.

"Shivansh!! Shivansh!!!" Ritvik’s voice cut through the fog making me jerk out of the nightmare. His grip firm on my shoulders. I hadn’t even realized he was beside me until now. "Calm down, Bhai. It was just a bad dream."

His voice was steady, but I couldn’t quite process it yet. The dream felt so real. Agastya appeared on the other side, both of them on each side of me with concern written all over their faces. I was still struggling to come back to reality, my heart refusing to settle, still trapped somewhere between the nightmare and this room.

My throat felt raw, burning as I tried to speak. My hands trembled uncontrollably, and even my body couldn’t stop shaking. I struggled to catch my breath, each word feeling like a weight I couldn’t lift.

“It wasn’t just a dream,” I whispered, my voice cracking, barely audible. “It... it happened.”

Agastya, who had been gently rubbing my back, paused. His brows furrowed in confusion, his hand stilling for a moment as he sat in front of me. "What are you talking about?” he asked quietly, his voice laced with concern.
