The Rookie one-shots

Tim sat up in his chair as sergeant grey walked in. Today was the day the new rookies started their training. Sergeant grey went over the recent cases and finally he began to introduce the rookies.

"We've got Lucy Chen, Jackson west, and John Nolan." Sergeant grey starts while looking at his clip board. "Bradford you've scored Chen, Lopez you've got west, and bishop you've got out 40 year old rookie."

As sergeant grey went on about what expects today and finally told everyone to get to work.

Tim walked passed Lucy "let's go boot." He says waving his hand.

Once Tim taught Lucy what to get with war bags Tim brings her to the shop.

Walking around he begins to say "after loading the car you walked around and look for any damage to the car. You have to do this before you can begin patrolling."

After that they get into the car and begin patrol. A few calls deep into patrolling they get to the food trucks for lunch. Tim Angela and Talia all waiting for their rookies to get their lunch begin to chat.

"West knows his stuff." Anglea says starting a conversation.

"He may know his stuff but Chen is already the better boot." Tim say back causing anglea to roll her eyes.

"What makes you say that?" Anglea asks

"I'm just obviously the better teacher." Tim says causing a smack on the shoulder of anglea

"Bishop, how's Nolan?" Angela asks

"Surprisingly okay. I think he'll survive the week." She says as the three rookies set down their food.

Pretty soon a call comes through and everyone rushes out of there. The rest of the day goes on smoothly and it was almost the end of the shift when Tim and Lucy got called to a noise complaint.

Tim steps out the car Lucy doing the same. "Go knock on the door boot." Tim says causing Lucy to go to the door.

A nice old lady opens the door. "My goodness. Is something wrong?" The old woman says and Lucy turns to Tim who is now beside her.

"Uhm. Yeah we just got a call about some noise going from your house. Just checking in." Lucy tells her.

"Oh I must of had my TV too loud. These hearing aid don't work much I guess." The lady says laughing a bit.

Lucy turns to Tim with a "what now" face. "Ma'am if you wouldn't mind we just want to around a bit make sure everything is alright." Tim says

"If you need to." The lady says movie aside letting Tim and Lucy in.

Tim start to look around while Lucy talks to the lady.

"I'm officer Chen and if you could just tell me what was making the noise earlier that would be great" Lucy says grabbing a pen

"Oh of course." The lady tells Lucy that the TV was on and how she has to have the volume very loud.

Soon enough Tim comes back into the room with Lucy and the lady.

"Is everything alright?" The lady asks

"Yes. But I just wanted to ask one more question." Tim says to the lady

" alright"

"What tv were you watching earlier. Because I didn't see any tv in your house." Tim says causing the old lady to be shocked.

Within seconds the old lady had punched tim and was walking towards her car. Luckily Tim got up and stopped the lady.

As Tim and Lucy drive home after the call Lucy starts t talk. "How does a little old lady kill her husband?! That's the craziest thing."

While driving Tim replies "some people really are crazy. If you learn that fast this job won't be as hard to do."

Lucy sits back a bit. "When did you learn that?" Lucy asks causing Tim to think back to when he was a rookie.

"My TO taught me." He replies his thought drifting back.

*flashback*

"Bradford what are you doing! Get up and shoot your gun." You yell at your rookie during a shoot off with the high school gang.

As it back up arrives and the three boys get taken in you start to walk over to your rookie tim Bradford.

"What was that? Why weren't you shooting?" You ask slightly yelling

"They were kids! I wasn't gonna shoot an innocent kid!" Tim says still obviously shaken up.

"Get in the shop." You say walking to the driver door

The drive back to the station start out silent until you broke it.

"The faster you learn that some people are just crazy the better. You cannot always trust everyone." You say Tim nodding "my first day as rookie my TO and I got called to a potential amber alert sighting. When we got the man he confessed to taking is four month son after killing his ex wife."

Tim's eyes widen as you finish your story. "It took me a long time to get over that. But I learned that some people are just psycho." You say finishing your story

"Thank you." Tim says

"For what Bradford?" You ask

"Telling me that. And not letting me die today." He says

"That is literally my job." You say causing both of you to laugh

*flashback ends*

"I think y/n was the best TO ever." Tim says as he finishes telling Lucy about you.

"Where is she now? Is she still a cop?" Lucy asks

"No. My last day as a rookie we were in another shootout and she jumped in front of the bullet for me. The doctors were able to save her but she's been in a coma ever since." Tim say as they get back to the station.

"Oh. I'm so sorry. I'm sure she would be proud of how far you've come." Lucy says as they step out of the shop.

Tim didn't reply but silently nods. As the shift comes to an end Tim turns in Lucy's first report and heads for his car. He sits in the seat before stating the car and driving off. Without realizing it he ends up at the hospital.

"Ah well." Tim says to himself before walking in and signing in. He silently walks to your room and opens the door. As he looks he sees you with cords connected to you.

"You look like crap l/n" he says as he finds a chair and sits next to you.

"I told my new boot about you. And how you saved my life." Tim looks down at your hand. "I guess I never realized how much I missed you calling me boot until today."

He stays silent for a few minutes before closing his eyes and holding your hand. "You're stronger than this l/n. You can make it through this. I need you to." Tim whisper shouts as a tear rolls down his cheek.

"I've better get home and watch the game. But you were the best TO the LAPD has ever had. I could never live up to you." Tim says before leaving the room.
