MAYA

I was sitting beside the groom I don't even know I was feeling void as if a part of me been snatched away I felt empty and this feeling was eating me alive from inside I was not even paying attention to the rituals taking place I was just doing it like a robot.

The rituals were going smoothly till now. I was just waiting for the time when my veil will be lifted up and and the truth will be revealed I was scared damn scared of the after effects "Bhagwan iss bari bacha do"

And the moment was here my veil was going to get lifted up by the grooms hand his hands held my veil tightly and he lifted it in one swift motion and I swear everything went numb, silent no chaos was heard in background he stared at me intensely his eyes pierced my soul making it hard for me to breath a lot of gasp was heard from background which broke our eye contact later realization dawned me he is the same guy I met at the airport God why did you do this with me why we both in unison said "You" he kinda looked furious rage was visible from his eyes he looked at me as if he will bury me deep inside the ground all were shocked looking at me he was going to get up but someone stopped him and they said "Advait beta you have to marry her we can't let the guest witness this please our family reputation is at stake I know what they did is totally wrong but you have to do this" he looked at me again and his eyes were red he so wanted to scream and curse at me but he is helpless now just like me, he turned his head again to look at the man " Paa how can I marry her I don't even know her what bullshit is this and where is sitara why is she not her and what is this girl doing her " I know his anger is valid but it's not my fault, his father again said "Advait please speak slowly get this marriage done for the sake of this family" and with this the rituals resumed and he filled my partition with vermillion and made me wore mangalsutra and pandit ji announced "Ab aap dono Pati patni hogaye ho apka vivaah sampan hua"

(Now you both are husband and wife your now you are married)

As only main family members were present near the wedding stage rest all the guests were sitted at a visible distance from the mandap therefore no one witnessed the scene which unfolded few minutes ago. After sometime we all were made gathered in a room and there some people were sent inside to attend the guest. All were silent for the first few minutes after couple of minutes my dad broke the silence "I know what I did was wrong I totally agree with it but I was not able to do anything rather than letting her get married to Advait I m really sorry you all had to go through this because of my daughter who eloped but trust me Maya is my eldest daughter and she is so capable to handle this" my father in law looked at me and spoke "How come we never knew that you had a elder daughter you never mentioned her how does she appeared now out of nowhere?"
My father tensed up a bit but replied "We send her away for education she used to live there most of the time that's why you were not able to see her but she is really a good child"

Advait got up from his sit and dragged me with him to the other room he glared at me for good 10 seconds and then spoke "Look Mrs whatever I don't care who you are or why did you marry me but keep one thing in mind don't ever cross your limits and act like my wife I will fulfill every responsibilities of being a husband but don't expect much cause I won't be doing that shit for you" is he some psycho or what why is he blaming me "Look Mr I Don't want any relationship with you I married you for the sake of my family my sister eloped and they made me the substitute wife and I don't even expect anything from someone so khadoos so feel free and you too don't expect anything from me too" he clenched his jawline "That's good for us, your sister played a very cruel game and now you will pay for it and this is a 1 year alliance after that we will go our separate paths but I will make sure to destroy you and your sister's life understood?" I shook my head because I didn't want to argue with him and with this I dashed out of the room with him behind me, as we reached there my step mother lunged ahead towards me and shouted "Because of this girl my daughter sitara eloped I know she manipulated her after she came sitara eloped till that she was just fine its all her fault she is a bad omen" I was beyond furious this women gets on my nerves I always respected her but not now it's enough, before I could say anything my mother-in-law interrupted "Mrs Sharda aap Rajasthan ke rani se baat kr rahi hai ye yaad rakhiye ham hamare bete ke bare mai kuch sunkar nahi lenge tammez se baat kariye" (Mrs Sharda watch with whom you are talking she is queen of Rajasthan now you need to behave yourself) hearing this I felt so lucky damn no one ever stood up for me and here this woman who meet me once is doing this much for me its emotional and this feeling is new and I love this genuinely one women standing for another women is the most mesmerizing scene my step mother went silent and then my father-in-law spoke "I can now understand what everyone is going through but we need to get the hold of this situation and not let the news of Maya wedded to Advait instead of Sitara should leak I hope you all will cooperate" we all shook our heads but my step mother looked at me with evil eyes. I know she is planning to do something but now was not the right time to look after that.
