M A Y A

I was left breathless after the car incident.

The way his eyes stared at mine made my inside flip and I was not at all able to withdraw my gaze as if I was hypnotised.

His autumn green eyes always reminded me of someone but I was not able to recall. He got Paa's eyes and Anika and Vivaan got Maa's eyes.

Anyways his Nani is so warm hearted and Nanu is so kind.

They didn't even let me touch their feets. His Nani is marathi. I mean it's new. I never heard Marathi being born in Rajasthan and spent half of my life in the UK . I was never introduced to this language but it's a different feeling to hear it.

Nani complimented me in marathi and I was having a small dance in my head about it.

I really loved the house, I mean it was well maintained and the structure was so good that it helped the house to get sunlight from everywhere possible. It was all warm and cosy. We were allotted the room upstairs. It was a beautiful room with a view of the lake. I took my time exploring the room by the time Advait did his business.

We freshen up and went towards the dining table to have my lunch. I decided to help Nani as I have never experienced spending time with neither of my grandparents so why not do it now. I started placing dishes on the table.

Nani snatched it from my hands making me frown did I do something wrong "Maya beta you take your sit don't worry about this I will do it and ease your eyebrows" I exhaled the sigh of relief "Nani please let me do it I'm bored from travelling and besides you prepared this food at least let me serve it" Nani smiled at me and nodded her head. With small chit chat we placed all the dishes on the table.

Soon Advait and Nanu joined us. The menu was so different I have never seen something like this. Out of curiosity I asked Nani "Nani what's all these dishes I mean I have never seen any of this before" she chuckled "It's puran poli basically it is a sweet version of paratha and this is Aluu vadi it's type of a roll which is fried and last but not the least this is a gravy made from the leftover of the puran poli" I nodded my head frantically. I was excited to try these out.

The food tasted amazing. Puran poli has my heart now and with ghee it tastes more amazing. I complimented Nani for her amazing food and she blushed.

As we finished having lunch Nani announced that "Maya and Advait as tomorrow is Vat Poornima you both have to perform that ritual as it's Maya's first Vat Poornima" I was confused I never heard of anything about this ritual "Nani what is this ritual I never heard about such ritual" Nani nodded her head in understanding "This ritual is basically done in Maharashtra for the long life of the husband the women's fast for the whole day and they worship the banyan tree by doing seven rounds around the tree with a white holy thread"

I was surprised this is definitely something new but we are not the real husband and wife. It's just a contract but I need to do this because I cannot spill the truth here. I looked at Advait only to find him already looking at me. After a few seconds we turned towards Nani and nodded our heads.

We all spent the evening lazing around talking about random things. I was not much involved as they were having the conversation in Marathi but I swear Advait's Marathi accent is so fine and sharp I melted right away. They too included me in the conversation but I preferred listening to them rather than talking. It felt nice to have such a warm cosy evening. We all slept early as tomorrow we all had to wake up early for the Pooja.

I felt someone shaking me up breaking my deep slumber. I abruptly opened my eyes to find Nani waking me up with a soft smile on her face. I yawned slightly and sat up straight looking like a child, Nani lovingly patted my head "Maya beta come on it's 7am we have to go for Pooja and I have arranged a saree for you don't worry It's a ready-made saree and it's called 'Nauvari' now go freshen up till then I will make the other arrangements for the Pooja".
